Has anyone ever visited or lived in any of the following big cities in Texas: Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, or Fort Worth? Pros/cons? Cost of living?

Hey! I’m planning on moving to Dallas. It is a reasonable place to live. I love the heat and I love the decent cost of living. But I’m currently making moves here in Alaska for the season. I really do hate it here 😂 but I am only going to be in this shit hole till October!

Dallas is an option for me as well when it comes to moving.
I have list of places, not in any order of most desirable or anything.

-Montana (haven't really looked into specific places yet)
-Phoenix, Arizona
-Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, or Fort Worth
-LA county

Honestly, I feel like Arizona might be the place I move to, Phoenix specifically, although the big cities in Texas are also a very high likely hood.

Reasons why?
-cost of living is reasonable/within my means
-plenty of opportunity for my specific career
-plenty of amenities, recreation activities, etc.
-schools seem to be good as well
-neighborhoods seem to be good

These big cities are large enough to where I have options to choose from to live, take my kids to school, etc.

But my career would be in the city, so the commute wouldn't be too much of a hassle.

I lived about 45 minutes from Austin and I preferred there over any other cities I visited in Texas. didn't care for Dallas or Houston, just too crowded and heavy traffic. Also people in Texas overall are pretty rude. Lowkey glad I dont live there anymore. First day I moved here to NC someone smiled at me and said hi. I ran home to my husband raving about how I met a nice person. Come to find out everyone here is just that nice. And people in Texas were just dicks lol 😂

I’m pretty sure I’ve traveled through all of though in my life, but it’s been a while... So no pros and cons off the top of my head.

San Antonio. Cost of living is very reasonable, but it's a slow, boring place and really hot in the summer.

What exactly do you mean by "slow?"

Stores and restaurants close early and there is not that much to do for a city of its size, especially if you aren't a basketball fan.

How about traffic? How is it in and around the city?

Not bad for a big city. Houston and Austin have very bad traffic in comparison.

Never lived in Texas. Been to Houston and it seems that the cost of living was high there.

Houston is very hot and humid and urban (tons of traffic). It also has South Texas Law School. San Antonio has the Alamo and a Starbucks right next to it. It may or may not have a few vampires and a lot of stolen bikes.

I've visited all four.
I simply don't like all four.
If you added Austin to the mix, I would tell you I liked Austin.

What is it about Austin that you liked over the other options? Also, why don't you like the other cities?

Austin, during my visits, was always the cleanest among the major cities of the Lone Star State. The 'Austin City Limits' music festivals were always fun to attend. People there are generally friendlier.

The crime rates & traffic in the other four cities are very bad. In Houston, the people we encountered there appeared unhappy or (worse) disgusted to see a white man with a half Asian/half white woman.

I assumed Houston is fairly diverse, similar to other large cities in the states. Of course it depends on where you go in the city and whether or not you really had a lot of experience with people being disgusted seeing you with a white man

I've been to San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin.

Austin was thr best of the three. In my experience.

No, I have traveled to California. The traffic is horrible there as well. However, I find Texas to be much worse.

San Antonio or Houston are best overall in my opinion. Although cities are pretty expensive everywhere
