Which area of Texas would you recommend for a first time Texas traveler?

I’m from Tennessee and a couple friends and I have started discussing a possible Texas trip about a hear from now. We would have about a week to work with so we would have to focus on a section of Texas. I’m between the Fort Worth/Dallas area and the San Antonio/ Austin/ Houston area. I’m a big country fan so Dallas and Fort Worth are exciting for me but I really don’t know much about Texas or what the big bucket list things are. Which out of the two would y’all recommend

I could give you recommendations for the Dallas area as I have not been to any other parts of TX. But in DFW you can go to a Rangers game, go on a JFK assassination tour, some good public parks, Perot museum, the arboretum, the reunion tower, there’s some art and history museums, the zoo, and I’m sure there would be music too, etc.

I passed through Tennessee and stayed overnight for 2 nights a few weeks back. Honestly really liked it, everyone seemed friendly and we had some good food. I went to Beale st to hear live music and the atmosphere was really nice. What else do you recommend for when I go back to TN? I am thinking of living somewhere there lol, do you think that’s a good idea?

Texas is so vast and grand that you can't really get it all in a short trip. The best places to see are:

South Padre island

Texas hill country

West Texas/Big Bend

by the way, i used to live in the DFW area and now it's so crowded and overdeveloped that you can't really distinguish it from any other big American city. If you do go to North Texas, better to visit Ft Worth/stockyards and areas OUTSIDE of the cities in N Texas. San Antonio is really nice supposedly, but not in Summer it's way too hot. Almost all of Texas is during the Summer.
It really depends on what you want to see in the limited time you have. Coastline and sand, South Padre; wildlife/scenery/outdoor Texas Hill country; vast open desert landscapes and open space is West Texas and the Big Bend area.

From what I know about Texas I would pick San Antonio or Austin.

I’d recommend San Antonio only because the food there is literally the best I’ve ever had.
