Yes. Although at my age I don't know how long I'd last. Everything hurts too much to be bouncing around on hard seats day after day. When I was young I could have gone across the US and loved it.

To me, flying barely qualifies as traveling. The only time it really counts is if you have to cross the ocean. Going by land is far better, and going slowly is better yet. That's the only way to see things and experience the diversity and beauty.

Unlike a lot of people I love open land like in the picture. If I could, I'd stop and hang out by that stream for an hour, or day, or a week. I'd walk to the top of those hills just to see what was on the other side (probably nothing more than you already see, but you never know).

I always wanted to walk or ride a bicycle across the country. Definitely too old for that now, but I can still dream about it.

When I was a kid, we traveled by stream train from Wisconsin to Washington state for a Christmas, News Years winter vacation.

We took a airplane back because it was only a oneway trip

I've been on a steam train before, but it was only a couple of hours on a tourist attraction. I didn't know there were any long distance steam trains.

I went long distance on a train that was not a steam engine, but the cars were the old style with a ton of polished woodwork, brass, etc. I rode it about 650 miles then switched to a newer double decker that wasn't nearly as cool.

With a quick search, here one that still does the Christmas Stream Train

Those are pretty reasonably priced. I was just talking to my neighbors about this kind of thing yesterday. I didn't think of the train rides. I'll have to mention it to them.

This reminds of another thing. The old paddle steam boats that go up and down the river are popular in some places. I used to have one a couple of miles from me. Now the nearest one is about 50-60 miles.

I was on a casino river steam boat. But I was cheated. It never left the dock and never ran.

It was permanently station there and what made it worse. That they advertised boat casino tours

Are you talking about TODAY, or back when it was actually being done?

I recommend you watch the Yellowstone prequel "1883", which is about a family from Tennessee who ends up travelling the Oregon Trail along with a group of German immigrants who are being led by a couple of Civil War veterans trying to keep them alive. It will give you some idea of the challenges that such a journey could entail, and they didn't even depict the crossing of the Rockies or the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges, which were the most dangerous part.

Given there was no roads back then it didn't seem the most sensible way of travelling across country. It would be fun for a day though until my heavy thin wheels got stuck in the mud and I got raped by indians

Why would you assume Natives would rape you? A severe SJW but also very racist typical just typical from most people with the liberal mindset

@dustybiker she isn't a liberal she's a from UK she just shares the same mindset if you support a clown world your a liberal in my book i don't care how it's seen. you also can't compare accusing a race of people of rape to a clown world mindset.
