How many countries and cities have you lived in and been to this year?

I'm currently in my 3rd country this year. I started off in Sweden (our home), then Germany (homeland), and now we're in Finland with my father.

I've been to 4 cities. Stockholm, Munich, Berlin, and now Helsinki.

I feel like a homeless gypsy moving around like this but at least I'm with the two men in my life.

Helsinki... my dads little obsession — Helsinki... my dad's little obsession

Berlin. Avoid, unless you can stay in a 5 star hotel.

This year, I have only been to my home town in Michigan. While growing up, we moved several times. I was born in Detroit, but moved to 4 suburbs and to the then rural town of Walled Lake. (It is now more a suburb, or at least an exurb.) I currently live in Falls Church, Virginia - a suburb of Washington, DC.

Overall, though, I have visited, though not lived in, 36 countries over the last 14 years.

Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Belize, Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Aruba, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Ireland, United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, Andorra, France, Monaco, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, Malta, Montenegro, Republic of Georgia.

Also, I have visited Puerto Rico and every American state east of the Mississippi River except Minnesota, Arkansas and Mississippi. Also visited the states of Missouri, Texas and California. (As noted, I currently reside, with my girlfriend and our three children, in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC.)

Of all of the above, Poland and the Czech Republic were part vacation and part business travel. The Republic of Georgia was business, but we were given ample time for pleasure travel.

San Francisco I didn't go south of the Golden Gate, and would strongly advise against it. Salt Lake City They had the Mormon Temple covered in scaffolding, but I'd seen it before so I didn't really care. Rome By far the most overrated city I've ever been to. Crowded, dirty, expensive and lousy food. Got robbed by a fake taxi driver within an hour of being there. If you have to come, stay in an American hotel and don't spend more than 2 nights. Venice Complete opposite of Rome. I thought it would be overrated, but it's the most beautiful city in the world by far. Had the best food and people of all the cities I visited in Italy. Highly recommend. It's worth paying to sleep at least one night in the city center. I just didn't like St. Mark's Square. Pisa Another city that exceeded expectations. One of the most beautiful cities in Europe, and there is SO much more than the leaning tower. Can't compliment the food though. Valletta One of the best cities to explore by night, but prices are expensive and restaurant and museum staff are in no rush to serve you.
