When you picture Chicago, do you imagine a beach city?

I grew up in the Chicago area but between 2016-2023, I lived in Colorado. Now I live in the Melbourne metroplex and a biking distance from the shoreline. When I tell people that i loved going to the beach when I was younger, they said "wait, didn't you say you were from Chicago".

I didn't even know chicago had a beach lmao. I suck at geography. With them calling it “The Windy City” i just imagined it being this place with tall building that was cold like at least 75% of the year. Then I dated a dude from the Chi back in 2020 and he showed me the big chrome bean thing (which i thought was in Missouri) 💀🤣 and he showed me the Navy Pier (which i assumed was just on some cool lookin lake) 🤣 The only thing I ever knew about Chicago before him was The Bulls. But Im such an idiot! Man it should be so obvious that there are not many places i want to travel to because i’m so fckin lost 🙈😭

Been there. Didn’t go there for the beaches.
just know it’s calm the Windy City and the fire burned down the city.
it’s like NYC with similar buildings in different streets.
those who call it the crime/dangerous city prob. watches too much news. Same for those who have never visited NYC.
i m happy keeping certain people out of the city.

I do actually! My brother went to Loyola and when I visited him we'd go to the beach.

No its one of things that stares you in the face but you can't see it. New York is the same, despite being a harbour you kinda don't realize it's coastal.
