Do I need a Power of Attorney or a Will to have my car driven while I’m overseas and renew my registration?

My car needs repairing, but I’m getting deployed this week. Will my girlfriend be able to renew my registration without a power of attorney or a will? Or take it to the mechanic shop for the fixes it needs?

Are you kidding me? You don’t give somebody power of attorney for something like that they can take your bank account control your whole life and put you in a mental institution control all your properties

I’m not really familiar with all this, I’m new to all this. I may be 22, but I don’t have much knowledge in regards to this department I’d be down for some constructive information, but not bashing because I’m not familiar with the topic

I’m not bashing, you have somebody watch your vehicle and fix it up. If they can’t afford to help you out, you send them some money from your service work and they can fix it.

That’s the plan, I plan on sending money strictly for expenses. Regarding the renewing registration portion, how would you go about that? Is that doable without me being present or is this more of a thing where I have to physically be there?

Why don’t you fix the registration before you leave? How many days do you have left?

From my understanding you have to set up and appointment for the DPS before you’re even seen. I canceled it because I was leaving sooner than expected, but I did knock out the state inspection. So now I’m busy handling other administrative matter and personal matter before I leave. This one won’t be doable before I depart, but more like 2.5 days. As far as I know I can leave her with the documents but I would rather not if it’s not possible to do while I’m gone. That’s the real twist to it

No reason she couldn’t take it to the shop, but to renew insurance you’ll probably need to sign some sort of authorization

Then you need to get her a LIMITED power of attorney. Go see JAG to confirm this, then have them draw one up if that's what you need.
