Oh Lordy. I could go into great depth of why I hate South Carolina (I currently live here and would not suggest moving here). Sure the beaches are nice and they have a few great tourist spots in Charleston and Myrtle Beach and the cost of living is cheap, but beyond that it's a retirement state meaning it's for old people to live in. There's not much to do here if you're not a tourist in the tourist places of SC. The weather is weird here. One minute it's hot as hell and the next it's cold. When it's hot in the summer, it's freaking Hades. The people are fake friendly and just want to know your whole entire business and if you end up in a small town in SC, they will know everything about you. People can't drive here. Granted my driving is not the best but I think I'm a much better driver than a lot of the people in this state. I could go on with why I hate it but I'll just leave it there.

I lived in Myrtle Beach, SC, for several years and went to high school there (Myrtle Beach High School or MBHS: Go Seahawks).

I didn't really care for it. It's one of those places that's great to visit with a great beach, lots of tourist sites, golf courses, strip clubs, surf shops galore, wet t-shirt contests, beach hotels.

It's not such a fun place to live, or at least it wasn't for me. Living in an ultimate tourist location often means a lot of redundancy: surf shop, surf shop, surf shop. We don't get that much variety since almost every business is aiming for the narrow interests of tourists and not the locals.

Myrtle Beach also had some of ugliest and tackiest architecture for me. It's a beautiful location but so much of the architecture is tacky.

It's just overly colorful and doesn't blend with the beautiful nature of the surroundings.

Especially after coming from Singapore which had some of the most awe-inspiring and beautiful architecture I've ever seen in the entire world:


Myrtle Beach is an eye-sore in comparison.

It looks nice, I would visit. My late aunt and uncle use to live there for like 8 months because my uncle wanted to look for work because at the time there were no jobs to be found and this took place in the late 80s.
