I have a trip coming up to Singapore. On the way back, I have an overnight layover in Seoul. I land at 6:30 pm and the next flight departs at 9:20 am, so almost 15 hours. Where should I stay? Would I have enough time to explore parts of Seoul during this layover or is it too far from the airport?
Here are some suggestions for your layover in Seoul:
- Stay near the airport: Look into hotels right by Incheon International Airport (ICN). That way you won't waste time commuting and can maximize exploring. Some options are Airport Express Hotel or Lotte City Hotel Incheon Airport.
- Visit Myeongdong: It's one of the main shopping/nightlife districts, about an hour from the airport by subway. You can check out the neon signs, eat street food, and do some shopping. Just be sure to budget travel time.
- Hangang Park: This long riverside park is beautiful to walk around in the evening. You'll see lots of locals exercising and hanging out. It's near downtown Seoul about an hour from the airport.
- Itaewon: The international neighborhood has good nightlife and dining. You might meet other travelers at the Irish pubs and trendy bars. Subway ride is also around an hour.
- Rest/relaxe near airport: If you just want to unwind, consider a spa/sauna at your hotel. Some have rooftop pools too. Then grab Korean BBQ for dinner near your accommodation.
Hope this gives you some ideas! With your timing a full day exploring is pushing it. But you can still experience Seoul for a night if you pick areas not too far from the airport. Let me know if any other questions!

The airport is actually in Incheon, pretty far from Seoul city center. If it was during the day, I would say go, but at night, it's not really worth it. You're better off just getting a hotel near the airport or in Incheon if you really want to experience Korean nightlife. It's really not worth the time, money and effort to go all the way into Seoul, then have to come back early in the morning.
stay at a hotel at the airport, you are going to have a lot less time than you think, and that's true of any city. they intentionally put the airports as far away from anything else as they can
in Seoul you can only get from the airport to the city by train, and it's easily over an hour and a half each way
I don't know much about seoul but if you want to go clubbing or experience nice life stuff go to itaewon
