I’m moving to California from New York. I’m aware that California is the biggest state. I often go there and I’m stranger to the state. New York is a very troubled state, with many social problems from NYC to upstate. Most New Yorkers are African American or Dominican while most Californians are Mexican, Asian, or white.

The politics are very similar, but the culture is definitely more latino, and less black. The people are dbags, but we're still way tf more chill that NYers. There's a lot more homeless here, and a lot more obvious poverty, than what you're used to. That can be a bit of a shocker to outsiders. Crime keeps getting worse, and we're at the point where many girls don't want to go places alone because of all the psychos wandering around. Pepper spray is a good thing to carry around here.

Yeah I’m no stranger to it. You guys have skid row which I’ve seen and it’s gotten worse a lot of homeless people but New York has had a lot of trouble with poverty also in recent years. Both states have that gang culture another similarity.

True and I’m not allowed to say it but I feel like the pandemic disproportionately was bad for certain communities and those communities are in larger numbers in NY. It’s really not PC but the pandemic did not ruin the Asian, Mexican, community. You see it here, and it’s scary and sad. Not why I’m moving it’s mainly due to the bad weather.

It’s a strange aspect of the American political stereotypes California and the Western states are very liberal about sex and drugs but conservative about racial issues, and not very social justice warriory like the Northeast. It’s interesting you see the political comments on here, and it’s the scapegoat for conservatives but in reality the Western states are just very libertarian about bedroom stuff including lgbt, sex ed, and stuff with drugs.
