So if your hard enough it's swimmable. But is it warm enough to swim where you are at the min and is it warmer or colder than the air

You used to come on here with the best recipes ever and then all of a sudden you must ate a rotten egg because everything you talk about eating now like black pudding with big fat things in it no I didn't know if I was going to throw up or have that area when I read that

No it's too cold here for that lake Tahoe water I don't know what it is I guess I should look it up but I'm not going to but I know it's ice cold I mean ice ice cold I mean it's so cold when I got out of it if I had to pee I wouldn't know where to look to find it that's how cold it is
One of the swimming baths I used to go to with my parents has a cold water basin tempered at 14 or 15 degree C. As a curious juvenile I had to try it. I think I lasted maybe a minute in there, it was a feeling of getting stabbed by a thousand forks.
Nope. Lake is freezing cold this time of year. We also just got over 5 feet of snow in the past two days and now winds of 45mph.
In other words, no way.
Definitely not. Personally, I go for a dip when the temperature is over 25°C for at least a few weeks.

Dipping into the sea at 13°C can be quite invigorating! It's a bit chilly for a swim, especially if the air temperature is only 10°C. Many people would find these temperatures brisk, so make sure to gauge your own comfort with cold water. If you decide to go for it, ensure you have warm clothing to change into after. Here's to braving the elements for the experience! 🏊♂️❄️

Yes, I have done a New Years plunge before. It was in the 30s.
I'm quite a ways from the ocean, but if I went there right now, the water would be much warmer than the air. I'm not sure I'd want to go in it though... both air and water are much colder than my body temp.
We have a small koi pond in our yard, and a bit of ice started forming on the surface overnight, as the temperature dipped to below freezing for several hours. There wasn't much ice and it didn't last long once the sun came out and the temperature rose well above freezing.
My cousin and her friend frequently go open water swimming off the coast of Whitley Bay, irrespective of the time of year.
Its cold there even in summer
it would be ice cold super chilly. You better get right next to a campfire after and change your clothes and have a towel with you. It shocks your system and you gotta get out there pretty quickly out of the water so you don’t get hypothermia
sure, some of the lakes are not frozen over, it's 22F outside, 35 mph winds gusting to 50.
Not a bad night to go skinny dipping.
Atlantic Ocean temp here is 20.4° C. For us natives, that is mighty damned cold.
I wouldn't go for that, personally. But I'm kind of a ninny when it comes to cold.
Not here it isn't, not for me. Water temperature is around 50 degrees Fahrenheit
But you still have to get out 😬 I hate the cold
@purplepoppy Nope.
