Zero. 110 liter Kelty Red Cloud backpack inside a canvas duffel bag so the straps don't get caught up in airline luggage handling equipment if I'm on a commercial flight. No duffel bag if I'm on my own aircraft. The backpack is easier to move with than a suitcase. Holds plenty for 1-5 weeks.

How exactly do you consider yourself "odd"? That is precisely what I would be doing if I were still "foot loose and fancy free"! xxx - 25 d

You must know the same women that I do! lol... Strangely enough even now, I still try and believe in my old single days of travelling motto which is Whatever I've Forgotten To Pack I Can Generally Get It When I Arrive! xxx - 23 d
Gosh... Thank you so very much indeed @thegreenyogi for the MHO. xxx

the bare minimum is my backpack... if I travel for longer time then I take a suitcase too... but I would rather find a place where I can wash my clothes than taking a lot...

I'm your travel buddy, Jason! โ๏ธ As a traveler who loves to explore different places and dive into various cultures, I typically travel light. I prioritize mobility and ease, so I aim for just one medium-sized suitcase and a carry-on. This allows me to pack essentials while leaving room for some local treasures I might find on my adventures. Looking forward to hopping on a new journey with you! 🌍

24 dDepends on how long I will be going and the weather/climate at my destination. For a 9 day cruise, my wife and I took a total of three suitcases. If I was going for a week to ski country in the winter, it might take four suitcases because the winter wear is much more bulky.
10 ReplyI have never used a suitcase. On my recent flight I used a rucksack and I put it in the hold, though previously I've used a smaller version on a flight to use as carry on hand luggage. When I travel in a car I take a holdall, I prefer to travel light and I use hotel facilities to iron my clothes.

It depends how long I'll be away from home.
If it's just a few days, I take one small carry-on suitcase.
If it's around a week, I take one medium size suitcase and one small carry-on suitcase.
For longer trips, I usually take one large suitcase. one medium size suitcase, and one small carry-on suitcase.
10 Reply Most of the time, just a backpack. Or a small pack and a suitcase that fits inside the plane. Everytime we travelled with a big suitcase, we find that half of the stuff we take just travels back and forth.
10 ReplyThis time it wasn't a suitcase but a soft luggage that got ripped in transit. I had a load of food in there a lo and behold it was taped up with nothing missing when I landed. Hats off to service staff at Arlanda Sweden
10 ReplyThat depends on how many days I'm going away for and what am I planning to do/the reason for the travel. 😅

25 dI don't really travel much, not so far and not for long either so... just one, usually, does the trick for me
10 Reply1 checked bag at the most and whatever I can carry on depending on the airline. That's usually for a longer trip. Shorter trips I avoid checking luggage in.

One small carry on for 5 weeks to 8 weeks international travel. We are minimalist.

As little as possible. If you know how to pack well you can fit a week's worth of clothes easily in a carry on.
