When you drive your car, who chooses the music to accompany you on a long trip?

Just to add to my original question, there's a scenario I left out. When it's just my daughter and myself travelling, she'll sing along to her music. She never does that when my wife is around.

Everyone but me. I've always thought it was sort of hilarious. At home I have a high end 7.1 channel surround sound home theater and audio system which gets a lot of use.

The cars I buy usually come with high end audio systems from companies like Bose and Infinity. But I never use them. Maybe 1% of the time. I have my personal music library on my iPhone. About 7,000 songs. But I only use it for running.

The only time the car audio systems ever get used is if someone in the car with me wants to listen to music or talk radio, comedy, etc.

I don't think about it much but I guess I like hearing what's going on around me when I'm driving and being alone with my thoughts. The music is a distraction.

Well, on occasion, I drive back home with my boyfriend. Where I live he passes right by on his way home. I let him pick what he wants to listen to since he is the driver and his car.

Not to mention, he is doing me a favor taking me home so I don't have to drive the four hours by myself.

Most of my long trips I drive solo, so I pick what's on the radio, which changes from talk radio to all different kinds of music. I use it basically to keep me awake on long boring trips.

When my wife and I go on a long trip together, she picks what's on the radio. Much of the time, she turns it off because it distracts her.

Ocassionally I'll bring some CDs if I remember. Normally we just listen to the local radio stations. Preferably rock or mixed. In extreme circumstances, Country. Luckily, my family all has the same taste when it comes to music.
