For me, I remember a United B777 flight from Los Angeles to Chicago several years ago. According to the online dynamic map, we were going 707 mph (~1140 kph) ground speed over the Grand Canyon, fastest I've ever gone.

We wonder if there are any astronauts on GaG, maybe someone who has been to orbit (not just riding Blue Origin up and down ala astronaut Katy Perry) where orbital speeds are around 24,000 kph (~17,000 mph).

In Brazil, the hotel assistant wanted money, so his boss told him to give us a ride to the airport so we could pay him instead of giving our Canadian taxi dollars instead to a Brazilian taxi driver, and his boss wanted him back at work as soon as possible and there were times where he might have driven up to 4 times faster than a normal taxi driver because if he drove us there fast he could return to his boss and return to make money fast. I also remember when we tried lightning trains in East Asia, which are trains that travel way faster than any car or Canadian vehicle. I believe they can travel a thousand miles in 2 hours.

Probably cruised 650 miles per hour (more-or-less) at 40,000 feet (more-or-less) above sea level on board a Philippine Airlines Boeing 747 many years ago.

I don't think anything on water can even come fractionally close to an airliner's service speed.

Not certain. I've been in a lot of military aircraft but never supersonic. And never at the controls. I was just along for the ride. I've been in private jets that have had an indicated airspeed of 650-725 mph. No idea how accurate that was. And once again, they wisely didn't allow me anywhere near the controls.

I got to fly in a T-37 . It had a top speed of 400 MPH. We did not go that fast but the pilot opened it up for an airspeed of over 300 mph.

Close to 350 knots per hour (400mph) in a friends private military jet. The pilot had fought in combat and was a test pilot at Edward's AFB. He did aerobatics and pulled some Gs. At one point, he took it down and zig zaged in a twisting canyon.

But probably 550-600 mph on airliners.
