I'm 1/4th Japanese, and since my husband and I have decided to start a family, I've been exploring my family history and talking to my grandma before she passes. I've really wanted to visit the Cherry Blossom Festival in Fujiyoshida, but it's been canceled due to tourists. There are other similar festivals in other Japanese cities. Heck we have a cherry blossom festival in Washington, DC, but it's sad this one got canceled. Hopefully it comes back whenever i get a chance to visit.

Tourists in Japan have become a menace, that's for sure, but I feel like there are better ways to handle this. I don't know why tourists are so rude.

I lived in a high tourism place before. The population at least doubled in the tourist season.

In Japan, there are so many unwritten social rules. I know foreigners are forgiven a lot because they don't know better, but that only goes so far. I think it's just the numbers that are the problem.

As I understand it, it's not westerners that are the problem. The problem is more Asians because they are so much closer and there are so many more of them. Same with crime by foreigners.

I support Japan totally for securing their country, as any country should.
Though ideally they should go harder, just kill anyone who comes over and causes trouble. Therefore nobody would, and you could easily go.
The problem is that would be seen as too extreme for a country to do, though I think every country should just do that. Whether immigrant or tourist you come over and commit a crime of sorts? You die it's simple and effective. Suddenly a lot less would.
But people are soft these days and would call it inhumane smh.

Happily married now but in the past I generally let the woman end it herself if I wanted out or I thought the relationship was going nowhere. I think in Asia, especially in Nippon, with the thousand unwritten little rules you basically will fail lots of them as a foreigner. But there is a huge difference between not knowing something and knowingly behaving like an asshole, just to film some dumb video for TicTac etc. I can't really blame the Japanese.
