Oh, I can answer this one. Babies are calmed by the gentle motions and random "white noise" of being in a car. Plus they are restrained in a car seat so there's not much to do other than sleep.

Driving a sports car fast is a completely different dance with life and death. You're driving on the edge of tire grip and lateral acceleration. And things are happening fast. One misstep with the steering wheel, the brake pedal, the accelerator pedal, or some random sand in a turn can land you in a ditch, in a hospital, or in a grave. I've had simultaneous rear tire blowouts at 150 mph. Oops.

Its the motion and the postion they are seated in. As a mother its a bad habit to let young children get into so they won't sleep unless being driven.
