I've always been hesitant to give out the death penalty. There clearly needs to be justice but it does scare me how moldable and fragile we are as humans.
It seems completely logical, that all humans should treat other humans with dignity and respect. It's a no brainier.
But then, why does this still happen?
My thought is that sometimes the mind has a slippery slope.
I don't think killing someone is ever talked about or planned on the spur of the moment, it's a slow moving transition. It's the mind making exceptions and reasoning things over time, like dropping a frog into cool water then slowly boiling it to death.
I personally think that any human can fall into this crazy way of thought.
It's not just that some people are bad or born bad but some people go down the wrong path for too long that it's toxic for themselves and the people around them.
To me, it's all about reform, to correct society rather than simply erasing the problem, ask why thei problem happened in the first place
Let me put it this way if Christine Angelica Dacera were one of my sisters then I would have flown out to Makati, Manila and I would be actively hunting the 9 other suspects that are outstanding and their only way to keep breathing would be to hand themselves in to the police before I caught up with them. The story doesn't add up and I pray she gets the justice she deserves. I wonder what their justice system is like over there because someone should be in custody right now, the same people who found her. So she was gang-raped in the same room and they just woke up to her in a tub, then covered her with a blanket because they thought she was asleep? yea, it's a no for me. Her friends need to be held for questioning and everyone on the guest list interrogated.
Upon completion of a cervical smear test, enough sperm will still be resident to get a full DNA done, whereupon hopefully the perpetrator can be apprehended, charged and proven guilty beyond all doubt, thereby at the very least being chemically castrated.
Well let me think about it for about ,, time is up so my brother calls me one night and tells me his daughter had. No one deserves a death penalty... If she was raped and died because of it than the criminal should spend his life in jail and if she wasn't dead, than he will serve sometime in jail and get a rehab before getting out...

This is not "just rape" it's murder, so they deserve the Death Penalty anyway, whoever did this.
But You know, I can't go around saying rape deserves death, unless it's a multiple offender, because I've learned I can't trust everything in the Bible, obviously, and I have no justification on the "punishment should fit the crime" thing for rape being punishable by death. So I'd say rape should be punishable by Castration plus 10 years hard labor. Why Castration? Because the damage to the woman is permanent, even if she survives, because it's permanent emotional scarring, so therefore the punishment to the offender (s) should be permanent.
rape, (regular rape), and murder by rape are two different things. I would say that 1 1/2 to 3 years for rape that does not result in murder is reasonable for both genders, and 10 years (more or less) for killing someone. it varies a lot, my opinion, based on what we know how likely was it to be an accident, how sick was the person, how did he/she/ze kill her, was it torture, did a therapist examine this person, how likely is it that they can be saved, people that kill other people (and of course people that rape also) are sick people, they need help, psychologists need to help these people, and by extension, help everybody else in the world. So much in this world is an accident , when we can help people to be better versions of themselves, that's one way we can have a really great impact on the world.
That is horrible. I can't imagine how scared she was. Whether or not someone gets the death penalty I think should depend on the severity of the crime and the amount of evidence. I hope whoever did this gets the death penalty. There's so many people falsely accused of crimes mainly POC, that I think the death penalty shouldn't be a regular thing.
The Bible says that if a man rapes a woman the penalty for that is death and you will not have this going on the same for murder if a man murders someone then kill him and you will not have this going on iso if we do what the Bible says this place would be a whole lot better wouldn't it

Well rape is a vague term. Rape can be just her refusing it but then later submits to it after being forced. Rape can also be really ugly and violent, to the point (or beyond) it is considered torture and leave her mutilated in the wild to die. Like in the movie "I spit on your grave". That deserves death penalty in my opinion
You confused the issue by adding in death. If it was rape only, chemical castration for a minimum of five years plus a jail term based on the details of the event. i. e. level of violence, duration. etc. If the rape caused death, execution of the offender or physical castration and a jail term, at the discretion of the victim's closest family member starting with her husband.
Certain types, yes. Other types, no. For example, if they consented but were both drunk, in many jurisdictions that is considered rape by the guy. That should not be punishable by death. In this case yes! I think it depends on each case. There are women who say they have been raped without having been and if it were the death penalty for all cases of alleged rape, it would not be fair if the charge was false.
No, the hardest punishment would be castration. But we can't have so hard punishment in todays court system where people can be accused and judged without evidence.

Only if she dies. This a nasty case and the guy should spend a long time in prison. But she can get over this physical aspects of the rape. Mentally I don't know, it's up to the individual woman.

The evidence for rape has to require a really high standards if death is the penalty. For that case, you are not just talking about rape but that is also a murder. So cases like that should be charged with death penalty.
@ABCD2341 In prison, you get raped more than the average victim of rape and you're saying death is enough? The more you make the penalty harsher, the more you're gonna get doubted as again, it's gonna require higher standards for the evidence and it harms the rape victim and the accused victim even more. So what if we killed that "rapist" but it turned out to be false because the standards for evidence wasn't high enough and he's proven innocent? Should we execute the one who claimed?

I don't usually support the death penalty unless its for premeditated murder; but I think forcible rape should carry the death penalty. You just don't violate another human being sexually. Its revolting.
Yes i believe so. Last year convicts of Delhi rape case were hanged and most believed that was fair judgement. This story is really sad i hope she gets justice.
A lot of guys don’t believe rape survivors and even vilify them. There should be a lot more time served. Even complete monsters only get 5 years or so.
