But if your office building is on fire and everyone is getting out, are you saying "nah, I'm staying I'm not a sheep like everybody else". But doing this does not make you reasonable or illuminated. mRNA are third generation vaccines. There is not just one type of vaccine out there. The whole point of vaccines is to prevent and/or fight infections. There will be fourth, fifth, sixth generation of vaccines in the future.

Wikipedia is fine. You can't that easily modify stuff like you want, it is moderated and you have to cite sources. One of my citations was taken from one of their sources. We are not discussing current research here, there's no point in citing the literature. Heck, one of my physics phd supervisors even told us during a lecture that wikipedia's articles on a certain subject are good. I often go there when I forget the numerical value of constants. If you want basic facts, it's a good place. Not citable of course.

But, the Pfizer approval is contingent on the results of studies on reproductive health and birth defects that will take 5-7 years. Pfizer says the dangerous spike proteins don't travel throughout the body but they have been found in the highest quantities in women's overies. (No, I don't know how to spell that word. I tried. 🤷🏼♂️)
This is enough to convince a lot of people that there are substantial long term risks, perticularly for developing females.
The least vaccinated level of education so far is people with PHD's, and I saw a leading Vaccine scientist saying he deeply regreted giving it to his daughters and wouldn't have if he had known this at the time.

Gene therapy is about changing your genes, your biological makeup. Sending instructions to a factory that is meant to follow these instructions in order to simply make proteins is not genetic engineering. I don't know how simpler it could be.

We are talking about basic biological knowledge. There is *nothing* wrong with using encyclopedias like Wikipedia. And you know what authors use to cite in (review) papers when talking about basic knowledge? Textbooks. Or they might not even cite anything. Wikipedia uses sources in their articles, in lots of articles about science, they use such textbooks.

The region where the people are the least vaccinated is the East, which is where people are the least educated. The (city)-State with the highest vaccination rate is Bremen, a university city. Hamburg, another university city State also does pretty good.
When they started offering Astra-Zeneca to everybody in my State (because of the very rare blood clot thing - at the time supplies were limited), it was reported almost only academics were lining up for it.
In the US, where are the places with the least level of vaccination? Rural regions in Red States. All the big cities (where most academics live) have the highest vaccination rates.

Uh yeah,,, I work in the business that my grandfather started. He basically started it for me because of my age. But essentially I own, operate and run the place.
I saw a need, I developed a business plan, I created an LP Margin Forecast, I found the facilities to start the business. I went to my grandfather and asked him to fund it. He went to my mom's cousin is an extremely successful CPA and business developer. He said everything looked absolutely flawless. So my grandfather funded it for me. I have stepped on some toes and people have complained to my grandfather about it. He just simply told him that I was in charge and if they didn't like it, they knew damn well where the door was.
I care about my employees, I care about my community. So I did implement the rule that all employees had to be vaccinated or walk out the door. And when they showed documentation of the second vaccination they got a $500 Visa Gift Card.

The issue of employers requiring the vaccination has been challenged more than a few times in the courts, and every time it has failed.
I think it's fantastic news, simply by asking for a vax record we can eliminate conspiracy nutters from the work place. While I'll say it shouldn't be mandated that a company requires their employees to get vaccinated, there are many that take will do subtle ways to push it. My job for example stated that they won't force the employees to get vaccinated, but they will stop paying for the quarantine period and you have to use your own time off if you get it.
Of course seeing as how even with vaccine you can still get it, kinda makes the notion of getting vaccinated redundant. Still in a few years the notion of Covid will be no different than the flu.
My grandmother died before covid ever got out from working too hard.
She was a major, so good they elected her again when she decided to retire and she went back to work. I told her not to.
Her town was dirt poor she survived off social security. She told me she wanted to cancel it and I was shocked. Asked her how she would survive. She said she probably wouldn't but at least I wouldn't get robbed for my whole life by her generations mistakes.
She told me to get her money back she'd have to live past 120, and that didn't include inflation since the 60's.
She didn't.

My 85 year old granny in Ireland was raised by the survivor of the potato famine. They didn't stop working and lock their kids up do avoid a slight risk, because know what it's like to be pennyless and hungry. And she didn't die of covid either. In Ireland, the retired people stayed home, and they sent the kids out on the city busses to support the families.
Their economy has grown faster than almost any other one in the world. And not just for rich people, for everyone.
My grandfathers both died before I was born. One was actually crazy, one died in his 50's from a heart attack. Stress and working too hard. He wasn't fat.

The vast majority of covid deaths were people who had already passed their life expectancies.

Well, unfortunately the government doesn't like me much because they know I can and will take their slaves away.
So it's been a real struggle. I lost my job making $1000 in 3 days a week at Walmart when they arrested me at home without a warrant and tried to get me "adjusted". 🤣😂🤣
But shit, my only regret is not taking the time to get the girl I met there out with me before they gave her the shot.
She's fantastic. Sings like an angel, knows how to be happy when life is terrible. They are afraid of her too, but after the shot she didn't laugh for a year. She said she didn't feel anything. Really felt awful for being selfish when I had all the time in the world to help her too.
I was in the freezer moving boxes for 12 hours straight, but I wasn't really cut out for it. More leg work than quick thinking. I thought I was gonna be great at it but man, I barely met the minimum quota. Those guys work hard.
So now I'm trying to get a CDL. Might go back to a distribution center if I have to, but I'd want to be a fork lift guy. Might work from home, but by next summer I plan to be in my truck. Making 60k or More without leaving my cat behind.
Before that, I was waiting tables. Had a great job where I could make $300+ in 4-5 hours a night but someone bought the store and we didn't have the same philosophy. I say service seeds returns. They wanted the hard up sell. Buisnes wasn't as good, the regulars stopped coming back, they cut my shifts, and I left.
I've also worked weddings at the #1 5 star resort in the state.
And been a short term supervisor for the CFA.
My first job was cleaning cars, but the boss let me fly his plane and use the soap on my 73 Porsche which was pretty unbeatable at 17.
But I'm not out to pay bills till I die. I'm not trying to climb a ladder. I'm stacking skills Instead of bills.
Long term, my plan is to build houses. I have designs to convert 54' trailers into fully functional houses with a queen sized bed, full kitchen with all full size appliances and a dishwasher, full standard sizes bathroom, washer drier, tankless hot water, climate control.
I think I can probably sell them for 20-30k and turn a profit. Offer people good financing, and they can own their own home in 2-3 years for less than the price of a one bedroom apartment.
Get people out of the rent loop, so they can spend their money on themselves. Take the power back for the people.
The only difference between working for $7.25 and slavery is that slaves didn't have to write a check every month. Nobody ever gets ahead of their bills on that. It's a scam.

If the I can get some real capital built up from the trucking or the house building, I want to buy a rotator (semi towing crane truck) and drive around Africa or Australia where you can build road trains.

Problem with investing is a lot of the markets are designed to make the big traders rich. That money comes from somewhere, and it's usually the people investing $100 because that's all they can afford, price drops and they sell it for a loss.
I did an educational video on short selling. Made me realize how unfair stock trading is to the little guys.
Right now, I don't have a lot of money to spare. My dad offered to give me $100 so it was a no loss for me, but I don't expect to make money off the first $100.
Sure, some people get lucky and turn $100 into $1000, but that takes 10 other people to lose $100 each.

If 1% of people die from Covid and everybody in the states get it, you have 3.3 million dead people. Then you have to take into account all the people who died and used intensive care beds, and all those more numerous people who didn't die but needed these beds. Important surgeries need to be delayed. You have a medical staff that is getting overworked. You have to choose between who lives and dies. Etc.. Sounds like something that works?
And with Delta now you have people in their 20s and 30s dying who have no particular health issues. Just let them die, who cares? What an amazing human being you are.

A year ago it put me in a coma for 3 months during which I lost 70+lbs weight, every organ in my body stopped functioning completely - including my heart. The skills of the ICU team where I was on life support saved my life after 4 hours of CPR to get my heart to beat again.

My job did mandate the vaccine (those bastards!) As of last Tuesday, we have until October 29 to be fully vaccinated or we get terminated.
Several employees flat out refuse and, I kid you not, they already have their resignation letters ready! That's how strongly they feel about it.

I work in medical. I deal with patients on a daily basis. My hours are scheduled 9 to 5 but I usually end up working an hour or two more and even come in on off days due to workload.
I'm vaccinated. And from a professional standpoint look at it this way... people in medical should be vaccinated or forced to work from home where possible. Fired if they refuse to vaccinate and can't work from home.

Both mandated vaccines, the high traffic job months ago and the healthcare job has a deadline approaching.
I approve of it. Not just from a human perspective, but also an HR perspective (my former career).
COVID - esp with the Delta variant becoming the dominant strain - makes people miss work. If they're FT and with benefits, it increases insurance premiums even for those of us who don't get sick. If they die, now HR has to fill a vacancy ($150k average cost, all told).
It's a good business decision, bottom line. Businesses don't care about your personal feelings or freedoms - they care about their bottom line and maximizing profits. It's a good PR move to mandate, too.
Plus, business-wise, the sooner everyone gets vaxxed, the sooner normal consumer spending resumes.

I got vaccinated 5 months ago. I was 50/50 on it but I did it. Do I really give a shit if someone else is not vaccinated? No. For one if they have covid then the chances of them getting me really sick are very low. Being vaxed doesn’t make you immune, just lessens the severity of the infection. All elderly and immunodeficient individuals have gotten vaxed first as they were high risk. The vax now should be available as an option but not mandated as no other groups are high at risk. There are always those outliers in every demographic but the overwhelming majority are fine just as is

I would refuse. I will never take that jab, regardless of evil coercion. I wouldn't quite because quitting is voluntary. If they fired me, I would sue them for breaching the contract I agreed to when I was hired; for discrimination; and for violating my rights. They can't force me to take drugs or unknown foreign substances, or to alter my genetic makeup.

I'm already vaccinated. And all the places I work already mandate it.
Some of those places are schools, where the students can't get vaccinated against Covid yet. Teachers are among the most at risk, especially if they don't get vaccinated. So it makes sense that the school doesn't want to be liable for that. More importantly, the kids are also at risk, so whatever precautions we can take to help them are worth it a hundred times over. Delta has been killing more and more kids lately. It's not as easy on them now as the virus was when it first started.
I also work in professional and semi-professional musical ensembles. I sing. Singing is one of the most dangerous activities during Covid, as when you sing you use more air than when you're talking, and the air moves much faster. It's one of the easiest ways to spread germs.
So the places I work absolutely should mandate it. And I'm glad that they do.

Everyone is an "at will" employee. People agree to all sorts of mandates when they accept employment, suck as random drug tests, uniforms, appearance standards, etc. This particular employer, the Washington Nationals, has made vaccination a requirement of employment... that's their choice. Boone can choose to comply, or choose to leave... that's his choice. You'll soon see the same thing happening in restaurants.
I already was contacted by my employer to provide evidence of vaccination before I would be allowed on the client site or back in the office. I was vaccinated because I am not an ignorant or fearful/paranoid person about vaccines. I happily complied.

Do they take into account people who can't take the vaccine for medical reasons? (Obviously I'm not a doctor but heard of some people who can't cause of health reasons.) I took it because I did what I think everyone should do, consult a doctor and follow their advice, but what do people do when a doctor advices them to not take it?

I don't care about the Nationals, never even heard of 'em. I care about principles, and bodily autonomy is one of the principles on which democracy depends. So I'm opposed to mandatory vaccines on that basis.

However I think requiring employees to be vaccinated during a pandemic is a pretty reasonable thing to ask for, and an easy line to draw in the sand as it's not only about your health, but about the health of every other employee and customer you come into contact with. And, as awful as it is to have to find a new job, particularly if you like what you do, you CAN quit and find new employment if you are that set against getting the vaccine.

The last job I worked was as a Night-shift Building Supervisor for an Extra Care Facility, I would have got Covid vaccination as I would Flu vaccination to minimise carrying any thing Into the Facility as it would not be possible to close it down.

Vaccines don't stop the spread of viruses. They help you fight off an infection. I have read several books and scientific articles and research papers. I have worked in drug trials and know that vaccines typically take 10-15 years to develop. As well you can't eliminate a virus that can infect a multitude of species. That is why we were never able to eradicate the flu. Whereas we were able to eradicate small pox. If I wanted to live in an authoritarian country I would move to China. Stop trying to convince people here to give up their personal liberties just so you can sleep better at night. Either accept that we all get to make our own health decisions or move to a country that doesn't allow for that.

Vaccines can't prevent an infection that is what your skin and good hygiene do. Vaccines teach your immune system to recognize the virus and create antibodies to fight off an infection. Antibodies respond to an infection; they don't prevent infections. I don't have a duty to protect you from a virus just like I don't have a duty to protect you from thieves. My obligation to you is to leave you alone. In a free society the government cannot compel anyone to act in the best interest of someone else. That is completely absurd. If you believe that you might as well compel me to buy stuff from Amazon. If there is any duty between me and the state; it is the duty of the state to serve me. Not me to serve the state. That is the basis of American governance; we are not serfs.
