This imitation of a caring, useful individual, has done SO many things that are unconstitutional, illegal, or just plain freakin' stupid, that I'm not really surprised.
Maybe it's just for the best (well, more like the least BAD), that he just crawl in his basement and vegetate- he's already part of the way there, apparently.
It "disturbs" me to the point that it simply reconfirms that he is a puppet of the socialist takeover brigade, remembering his "obama commie training". It angers me to no end that this individual is supposed to be representing the United States of America! And while it would have been super-appropriate to recognize our fallen on Memorial Day, I wouldn't think he could even be sincere about mentioning it. He was too busy setting the stage for problems- literally- from day one of his "reign".
But, I simply can't ALLOW it to "disturb" me, however, since that will fill my brain with too many negative thoughts from satan, detract from my day-to-day living, food stockpiling, project completion, and continuing to earn a living (since we'll never be able to retire on SS, and a worthless IRA portfolio).
I can respect the position of the President of the United States, but that doesn’t mean I have to respect the man or woman who is president. What if the person is doing things you feel are harmful to the country and it’s people? Why should you feel obligated to respect a human being like that? If your father is abusive, absent, and alcoholic are you going to respect him still just because he’s your father? I don’t think so and you’re not obligated to just because he’s your father. The same thinking can be applied to anyone else. The position is important but the person and their actions are more important.
Honestly it doesn’t bother me since it wasn’t a milestone anniversary.
What does bother me, although it’s unavoidable, is that the generation that fought in World War II will soon be all gone. Their numbers are dwindling. I’ve been privileged to know many of them, and to have handled their final arrangements. As far as I’m concerned, they’re national treasures as are those who fought alongside them.
Yesterday I handled a funeral and national cemetery burial for a WWII veteran who served in the Pacific theater. The significance of the day was not lost on anyone who attended.

I am. People don’t realize how important the landings were. If we failed, we would be set back for months, possibly a year. That would mean it would be Hitler versus Stalin for control of 75% of the European continent. You know how scary that sounds? Two of the most evil men at the heads of two of the most evil regimes in history with the chance to rule almost all of Europe.
And it’s not lost on me that had I been born 80 years earlier, in 1923 instead of 2003, it would have been me storming that beach. Think about the 17-21 year old soldiers who stormed the beach that day, they were still boys by modern standards, but their conduct proved them to be some of the most heroic men in history. That generation was much stronger than mine is. But you know what they say, hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times. We’re currently on the last leg of that. They were transitioning from the first to the second leg.
I believe the 2nd WW was a crossroads which could have taken the entire world down a much darker path. D-Day marked a point at which the world was steered in the direction of a brighter future.
That being said, it does trouble me some, but his policies are of *far* greater importance to me.

What more is there to say? We, as a nation, have been sucking than dick for seventy years; enough that few people even remember that the US didn't get involved in that war by choice- Hihler declared war on US, not the other way around. We interned our own citizens based an their ethnic origins, enslaved others and forced them to fight and die without having the right to elect the leaders who made those decisions, and the population that accepts this is called "heroic" just because the other guys were worse.
We finally got over the worship of WWI veterans when thelast of them died off; hopefully we'll have enough time before the NEXT war starts that we can give it the demonization it deserves.
In the meantime, Biden didn't say anything about the battle of Memphis, either- does THAT bother you?

Yes, even though it's not a formal tradition (that I'm aware of) It marks one of the most important dates regarding the history in our country, thus the President should at the very least formally acknowledge D Day.
Of course I’m bothered. It was singlehandedly one of the most proud moments in our country’s history.
To think we threw everything on the line that day, and the odds were so stacked against us.
