It seems like the Oct 7th attack has unleashed hell on Hamas and the Palestinians. I am neutral in their disagreements and can see both sides but this attack has had disastrous consequences and in hindsight Hamas look like idiots in how and what they did.

My guess is, they never expected a reaction where Israel would go all in. Previous punishments were limited incursions or air assaults, where some local commander and his cell might have been killed. Now with 80% of the Gaza strip destroyed and 30.000+ Hamas fighters KIAed and POWed, it's probably dawning on them how drastically they miscalculated.

Based on the handling from previous instances of kidnappings I think their goal was to use the hostages as leverage against a full-scale incursion of the IDF.

No they predicted Israel would retaliate and Israel is completely justified in doing so.

But also:

• Hamas militants are deep underground bunkers and well supplied. They are well protected from air strikes
• Hamas intentionally uses innocent civilians as human shields knowing the mass media would cover it and blame Israel
• Accurately predicted that the growing leftist radicals in western society would defend them

This is all part of a long game of using gaslighting to brainwash people into hating Israel and Jews in general.

Hamas is hoping to hold out as long as possible to turn public opinion against Israel. It’s working too. When you got Down syndrome people chanting “gays for Palestine” slogans then you know we are beyond hope. Those same people would be thrown off buildings if they suddenly found themselves suddenly in the Gaza Strip. It’s beyond insane but this is what our world has come to. People inviting their destruction for woke credentials.

Ultimately, Israel is an illegitimate state that was carved into existence by foreign powers and maintains its existence thanks to many trillions in foreign aid.

I don’t disagree with your last statement but Israel is fighting with its back against the wall to survive so no, I don’t think they regret previous operations. And I don’t think this is a loaded question Hamas had peace but now their whole country is wrecked and their people are suffering all so some yahoos could fly silly paragliders in to shoot civilians to feel like men again.

The gaza strip has been a warzone with both sides launching rockets at each other for decades while Israel bulldozes away entire towns to make room for their own settlements. Learn a little history - Palestinian territory has been eroding away for decades.

Nobody wants the Palestinians. I lived in the Middle East. Nobody was opening their doors to them. A bunch of countries got butthurt that Israel just sprung up because old white people said so. Check roger. I gotcha. That makes sense. A bunch of countries got together and launched war on them in '67. Got their ass handed to them. The right way to end a war is with nothing short of the unconditional surrender of the other side. Now that's where israel f'ed up. Should have kept going until the other states were all like... oh we don't want this.

The unification of China was long and bloody. Truly brutal. but it beat the warring clans going at it for generation after generation. Fewer dead that way too. Wholesale slaughter until one side gives in, which in the case of the Palestinians, would be the dissolution of Israel since they've said time and again they will not recognize any israel under any circumstances. In the case of Israel I guess that would be total control of golan, west bank, Jerusalem... I don't know... whatever else they want. Doesn't actually make a lick of difference to me which side comes out on top. I believe in the Doctrine of Total War and I believe in both side's right to self-determination. They've fought this war for generations, they can choose to fight it for generations more or end it next month with fire and steel. I think the latter is kinder to both sides.

All the middle eastern countries give shite to Palestine... not my fault one side has richer friends than the other. Up to me we'd cut off all foreign aid to every country except possibly a goodwill thing after a natural disaster like an earthquake or whatever, but that's over a very defined timeline...60 days or less. They don't give me the launch codes though so I don't get to make policy, so we give to "our" side and they give to theirs.

They're not called "terrorists" because people don't like their goals; they're called that because the wanton slaughter of innocents is all in a day's work to them. 2, israel imprisoned... AFTER court trial. but hamas abducted unarmed civilians as hostages. not equal.
