I don’t know, man, not really looking for a brawl with you here, but I just don’t understand why people are so convinced that Trump hasn’t likely broken a bunch of laws. Might as well just go Lord Of The Flies if we’re going to say our official institutions can’t be trusted. With all due respect for what they do, I think it’s safe to say the majority of truckers aren’t exactly brainiacs, certainly not in my professional experience. I don’t expect these people to not have the simpleton’s logic that the strength of the economy is only measured in gas prices and the cost of goods and services. It’s uninformed and shortsighted to believe that.
I don’t know, getting deeper than I’m really up for tonight, lmfao, but while I believe not many people will be looking to do Trump any favors, I find it hard to believe that he could just get railroaded in broad daylight, in front of everyone. The only people who believe that are the ones who believe whatever Trump says to be true, which is maybe the biggest fatal flaw. HE says getting jobbed, sure. Prisons are full of “innocent” men, though, right?
Like of all the things I would find objectively questionable about Trump is that he’s, at least to me, very obviously dishonest. Like not a little bit, like “roll my eyes at almost every word he says”-level of dishonesty. I don’t understand how YOU GUYS haven’t figured it out yet, that’s what really blows me away. “Drain the swamp”, FINE, I actually agree with that, DC is a mess on both sides of the aisle…. but to believe Trump is the guy who’s going to be unwaveringly honest and clean things up, I will just never in my life understand what you guys are seeing there to make you believe that. Just the most obvious conman I’ve ever seen. And it’s worse this time because he’s not running for us, he’s running to save himself because it’s his only way out. Are there really no other conservative politicians you could get behind? Like we aren’t going to agree on the direction the country should be going in, probably, but Trump is just a mind-boggling choice for a candidate, unless you take him at face value, which I would urge anyone NOT TO.

I feel like we’ve totally lost sight of the Occam’s Razor principle, and instead we believe that, instead reality that our “lying eyes” are apparently viewing, is really just a series of hundreds of nefarious interconnected conspiracies behind the scenes, perpetrated by only ONE of the two parties, and despite a roughly 50/50-ish split in government, the poor Republicans JUST can’t seem to stop them. I just don’t know why one would believe the latter to be the truth unless it assuaged their psyche in some way and the lie was more comforting than reality.

I was never a fan of him and did not know how he would be able to be President of the US and be Donald Trump at the same time. I voted for him because the alternative was just so much worse.
It turned out that he made a lot of promises and actually kept them. He would have finished doing a lot more if he had a second term. In my whole life it wa the first time I ever felt like I had representation in Washington. I could see how putting America First made a huge difference. Trump was the outsider so there were no backroom deals and a vig skimmed off the top for crooked politicians. He was already a billionaire and he already had a successful business and had a hit television show, Maybe he is doing this to feed the worlds biggest ego. I don;t know why somebody would not just ride off into the sunset. Is it really hard to believe that he just wants to leave a strong and safe America for his kids and grandkids?
I want to see him have a second term and if he does not have to worry about re-election and will not have the growing pains of the first term I wonder how much he will be able to do.
Trump was a surprise for me. I did not expect much from hi but voted for him anyway. It turns out that even though he is a billionaire egomaniac his policies aligned with my own. I think it was actually easy for him to fix a lot of the problems plaguing America because he was not bought and paid for by big corporations or foreign governments. I think it demonstrated that the backroom deals and the foreign kickbacks are not really victimless crimes because we all end up paying for them.
The whole thing might just be one big scam, meanwhile we had control over our border, low gas prices and low inflation. The stock market did very well and unemployment was low. Wagas rose across all demographic groups and we did not engage in any new wars.

Yeah, man, I mean, I think you and I have very fundamentally different driving forces that go beyond Trump. I’m not super keen on the idea of countries, I think that’s globally divisive. And the further into the calendar we go, the closer we get to a more globalist system. I’m not a “rah-rah, GO AMERICA!” guy, and that’s not even because I have a problem with America. I wouldn’t be “rah-rah, GO BELGIUM!” or “rah-rah, GO TURKMENISTAN!” either. Like the concept of patriotism, and even more so, nationalism, for ANY country, is inherently goofy at its core, to me. And the world would be a better place if we abandoned all these “team” mentalities we have. You ever hear of that poor guy who got his head stomped in at Dodger Stadium, caught a permanent brain injury, forever disabled, because he was a Giants fan. That’s moronic, and international beef is just that same concept on steroids. So I’ll just never be dead set on preservation of the system we currently have, because I think we can do a lot better, if we can stop being ignorant and just work together with people who aren’t like us culturally, and them with us. We make life dumber than it needs to be, lmao.
But my issue with Trump or even just the right wing in general, as fractured and faction’d as it seems right now, has never been so much about fiscal policy, but their social attitudes. I have absolutely no room for bigotry of any kind. I’m a “universal acceptance” guy, that’s priority A-number-1 for me in life, I don’t care if I live in a shanty town and bathe in the same river I drink from, it’s not about quality of life or standard of living AT ALL. That stuff is great, but not at the expense of my decency and compassion. Absolutely nothing in the world matters more than that, not prosperity, not safety, not security…. DECENCY, TO EVERYBODY, NO EXCEPTIONS, FULL STOP. There can be no negotiations without that baseline, and that shouldn’t even be a big ask of anyone. Or I don’t know, it might mean our entire lifestyles as we know them have to do a 180…. doesn’t matter. Recalibrate, and move forward with 100% pure souls and 100% benevolent intentions. Someone has to do it, might as well be our living generations.
Maybe that’s too drastic for most, and that’s fine, but the fact remains, I can’t come to the table until I know the people on the other side are benevolent people with unselfish goals and unwaveringly kind values. Then, and ONLY THEN, we can peacefully talk about tax rates, lmao. The right needs to stop worrying so much about what people who aren’t yourself are doing. There’s too much paranoia about being victimized by crime, too many political conspiracy theories, too much fear of possibly having an LGBTQ kid, having something taken from you…. from where I’m standing, no offense, but you all just seem irrationally scared of boogeymen that either don’t exist at all, or have been grossly exaggerated by right wing politicians and media, and/or mischaracterized for this very result we get of responsive outrage, which causes the voter base to donate money, vote, etc, which is their endgame. I know you’re a good guy and you just want to look after your family. I don’t think who the US president is is going to make a whole hell of a lot of difference in terms of whether or not crazy ass Putin will invade Ukraine or not. Also…only America thinks of America this much. I think we’re a little high on ourselves to think that other countries make moves based on whether or not America will like it.
Covid happened on Trump’s watch…. I have qualms with his response, but the Covid itself is in no way his fault. But honestly, in your heart of hearts, if that happened under Hillary, or Biden, or GOD FORBID Obama, do you really think the right wing wouldn’t be saying this never would have happened if a Republican had been in charge? Or worse, that this was done in cahoots with Xi in China for some nefarious reason? I kind of feel like we’d be hearing that. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my instinct.
But in life…. stuff largely “just happens”, kind of at random, and someone will always be at the helm somewhere, and we could spin any negative event to be “this NEVER would have happened if so-and-so was/wasn’t in charge!”, but I don’t think that’s accurate. It’s very easy to say, but impossible to prove either way, and that’s the gray area those claims live in. So I think any of these measurables, good or bad, are a real stretch to just attribute to the presidency of this guy or that guy.
So in the end, it’s “who’s my most decent option?” *clenches teeth* It’s Joe Biden for me.
I’m not super impressed, but I’m not super offended. Performance? My life is the same no matter who the president has been, I’m on more or less my 7th one (wasn’t really conscious for Carter), and I can say without a doubt that my life has never wavered in any significant way as the result of a president or a politician. What I’m looking for is “How can my government help others and help me help others?” That’s what I’m truly looking for.

Has the government made illegals legally able to drive trucks? From what I know, they'd have to take special classes to be able to get a CDC license. SOME truck drivers will boycott driving to NYC because Trump was found guilty of the things he did in a legal court of law. Meanwhile, truck drivers who are smart enough to see that the rulings were correct will continue driving to NYC and keep their jobs as those who refuse to drive to NYC will lose their customers and possibly their jobs. NYC will continue to eat well and the drivers going there will have that much more money for taking over what the idiots boycotted.
These drivers take jobs as they see fit. Truck driving is one of the most reliable and profitable jobs in our country. If they own their own truck they can take whatever job they want. I know truck drivers who have made 200k to 300k annually in the 80s to 90s.
It there was a total boycott, it would take 3 days for stores to be emptied of most food; less if people panicked and started buying up food. However, not all truckers would join the boycott and other truckers would deliver when offered triple their normal rates.
