It more or less matches the same poll put out by Siena College in 2022.

Since 1982, after 1 year of a new presidential administration, Siena College polls presidential historians. Since Biden became the current President in 2021, Siena conducted their latest poll in 2022. This website is to their 2022 results.

In that poll, Trump is 43rd with James Buchanan (15th President; the one before Lincoln) and Andrew Johnson (17th President; the one after Lincoln) as being 44th and 45th respectively. 42nd was Warren Harding (29th President), the corrupt GOP President in the early 1920s. 41st was Franklin Pierce (14th President, just before James Buchanan).

I think there's some clear bias here (not necessarily politically). For example, you'll notice that early + recent presidents are near the top of the list, and the bottom is dominated by more of our middle-history presidents. Overall the rankings are okay though. And don't get me wrong, I hate Donald Trump, but it just doesn't seem like a sincerely objective ranking to put him dead last behind folks like Johnson, Buchanan, and Harding.

Harry Truman should be a bit higher, and so should the younger Bush. Ulysses Grant is too high…. and Nixon should be higher, he ended the war in VietNam even with his Watergate scandal. Andrew Jackson was a slave owner, and Ronald Reagan’s reganomics proved not to work for our economy. I also disliked him for having a real gun on himself during movies. Loaded ones!
The last one, I have to agree just for the brash personality and dangerous ties to dictators, although he is a close tie with Hoover who did practically nothing during the Great Depression.

Washington did not "found" the USA, there were dozens of men involved in that. Learn your history. "Father of our country" is nothing more than a propaganda moniker.

* Washington would have lost the battle at Valley Forge HAD IT NOT BEEN for the Oneida and Tuscarora Tribes who sent men and food. As a General, he lost more battles than he won.
* He accumulated MORE land and MORE slaves by the end of the war than any other officer

Probably the worst thing he did came after the war when he ordered the Sullivan Expedition to wipe out all the tribes that were hostile to Revolution. But that's not what happened. Instead, Sullivan burned the villages of ALL tribes, including the ones who fought with them. Washington did nothing to stop it.

Washington did have some skills, and I'm not going to deny that, he was also a lying shit who started a war and turned on his supporters. He lied to his own men about giving them land after war for enrolling, by convincing them it was worthless territory.

So, first of all, Washington was English and not French. The “document” was a bad translation, not because of his reading ability.

Second, Washington was a 22-year old Colonel. He gained his posit because of family legacy, which was incredibly common in those times. He didn’t lie his way into the army.

Not my hero and I think his father really screwed us with China. But Obama was in for years before the Great Recession. And even that isn’t on him as it was greedy Americans buying up property they couldn't afford because Democrats in Congress made it possible for Liar Loans. A housekeeper bought a $750,000 house by lying about how much she made and the government said you couldn't fact check it as it was discriminatory. She was going to sell it 4 or 5 months later and make $50,000 like others had done but she had bad timing. That is a real example of what went on. And W nor Obama caused or fixed it. If anything it was race politics started by Bill Clinton with subprime loans, W kept it going, Obama just rode it out.

Still this is not in the same league as what JFK did, not even close…, which is what I expected as a retort.

@supercutebutt. So angry, lol, relax a bit. The effects of that time for me hit in 2009 and 2010. So Obama only dealt with it for 5 months. Did he do something amazing in those 5 months that made it disappear after years apparently? Even so, it still does not compare to Kennedy and that was the primary point of this discussion. Every so many years we have a recession and that one was worse than normal but thats it, a very forgettable event.

We do have an impending depression given the national debt so the great recession won’t be discussed much in 60 years like the events of JFK’s tenure. In 70 years, Obama will not be ranked higher than Kennedy which brings me to the point that it is too soon to rank the recent Presidents. Obama will be known for being black even though he had a white mother and was raised by white grandparents.

Now its $34 billion, Trump included but at least Trump had us get better trade deals, business was booming meaning more taxes incoming, people had money and through his efforts while jot even being in office Nato is paying their fair share or at least starting to which makes him a better President in the moment than Biden who would have done nothing.

Actually, most of the people on welfare think he was awesome. He gave them free money during the pandemic. I bet you were one of them got a Trump check, but still bitch about how the government gives out handouts to people who don’t deserve it. Also, I’m not on welfare, quite the opposite actually, and Trump is the worst president in history. His tax cut and insistence on pushing interest rates to almost zero, at the same time, during a strong economy, along with the high tariffs are why we have such high inflation. And, if you actually pay taxes, remember to thank Trump in 2025 when they go up. His tax cut for individuals had a life of only 7 years - for corporations, it was permanent.

Now, just because you do or don’t have a college degree doesn’t automatically put you in a category of stupid or smart. But, those with strong deductive reasoning tend to break away from Trump in big numbers. That’s why his followers are so good at delivering his talking points, because they don’t know anything else. It was necessary to go big on bombing them to win that way.
Tariffs charged against entities are added by them to the cost to the buyers, so Trump's tariffs were actually paid by Americans. As for growing the debt, Trump was president for four years and the debt grew 40.43%, Biden is over three years and the debt has only increased 16.67%.
As for your comment that any that grew the debt over 5 trillion lose 40 points, The debt when Trump took office was $20,244,900,016,053.50 and grew to $28,428,918,570,048.60 by the time he left office. An increase of $8,184,018,553,995.10, well over the 5 trillion standard you are using. And he did it in just four years while Obama was president for 8 years and it only increased $8,335,071,012,541.80. I guess you just shot down your arguments for Trump in many ways.

Well, yes and no. At the time we were basically competing to see who was better at controlling their own population with propaganda. That's was more or less what the cold war was all about. It's not *really* a cause for celebration to win. And anyway it was the Chernobyl incident that bankrupted the USSR more than anything. Gorbachev actually turned out to be reasonable, considering. Indeed Putin largely campaigned on blaming the collapse of the USSR on Gorbachev leaning into liberal policies. And it was a mistake to do so because the ideas werent flawed but because he implemented them too fast so the alternate forms of revenue weren't there yet.
