Trending & News Today at roughly 10:24 AM I was at work and the building shook.

we had a bigger one in 2002, n. y. 5.3. a similar in Maine 4.7 in 2012. so they added the subjective opinion "rare" just trying to make a fake sensation increase ratings n scare people...
not really rare!
remember it is election year and inflation here has been outrageous, biden-flation, need to distract people from the grocery bill. but even one house didn't fall.
I was on a vacation and I felt the shaking and thought it was a truck lol. And then I saw it was a 4.8 earthquake. I felt the after shock as well but it only shook the building I was in for two seconds. Newark’s airport delayed flights for about 2 hours so that was interesting

I don't understand how you could possibly feel an earthquake there on the East Coast. Earthquakes are a product of California and we have patents and copyrights on all of them. I think you're going to be hearing it from California lawyers about this. We reserve the right to enjoy all earthquakes in the US.
You commies think you get to control everything!
@ProbablyClueless Just the earthquakes and the brush fires.
I'm not familiar with NJ and NY specifically, but there are definitely fault lines in the east. I've felt a few in my life including some that had the lamps shaking even a hundred miles from the center.
There are fault lines around here, but they aren't very active. Most of what we get is a 1 or 2. It's news when we get a 3.
No i was driving a big truck at the time so I didn’t feel it but everybody that was standing or sitting inside felt it for about 20 seconds but somehow I missed it
I would’ve felt it if I was standing outside and parked because I’m on Long Island
I saw that Philadafrica got a shaking, it must have been alarming!
@KrakenAttackin It is alarming. Unless I am at an amusement park on a ride I don't want to feel the ground shaking 🫨. And it just happened again.
Yikes!!
No, I was out of the blast zone. Still it is a little scary
I'm the other side of the pond so no, but we heard about it over here on the radio. The fact you don't have them often must be a cause for concern!

Nah. I was outside of the red area. I figured I would have felt something though.
I'm a few hours south of you and I still didn't feel it
also n new york, a guy told me his windows, "rattled" but we far. even in n. j. not even one house lost a window. to make sensation news added the word rare.
Well im on the west coast so I didn’t feel that one but we have gotten a few smaller ones in recent years
I felt both of them. The one at 10:23 and the one at 5:59. I knew what it was because I first felt it back in 2011.
There was one in Northern California the previous evening that I felt
It was no biggy, just a little shake.
Not a biggie perhaps for some areas but up this way it's not common accordance.
occurrence
... Phone auto corrected 🙄 incorrectly lol
I live too far away, but, I have been in much larger earthquakes.
