TikTok users could soon find that the popular social media service is either under new ownership or, although it wouldn't happen immediately, outright banned in the U. S.

The Senate late Tuesday passed a broad legislative package that delivers $95 billion in foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel and other U. S. allies. The bill, which had already been approved in the House, also includes a provision that could lead to a ban on TikTok in the U. S. if the popular platform's Chinese owner doesn't sell its stake within a year.

Biden has signaled he will sign it into law so this is definitely happening. be prepared.

Unfortunately America has learned absolutely nothing from its experience with prohibition. No TikTok is not an addictive substance but it's an addictive service. Moreover, the reasons they're banning it is because it's owned by a Chinese company that allegedly could be using it for data mining purposes. Isn't it funny how the federal government seems to have no problem when it's an american-owned company data mining its own citizens? It's all bullshit. It's almost as if they're punishing capitalism and they don't like the Chinese coming out on top.

This is only the beginning of what's to come in terms of censorship and government control. Today it Tik Tok, tomorrow it's who knows what will be banned. The more we let the government take from us, the hard it is to get back what was taken. I wouldn't be surprised if US based social media companies had a lot of influence on this getting passed. There are more important issues then a Tik Tok ban that is made null and void with a simple VPN.

Good riddance, but there's a major problem with that bill: it doesn't ban the activities TikTok is doing. They basically just made it into a theatrical fake success because Meta, or whatever (probably fake shell) company takes over the US operation of TikTok can just keep selling off or giving personal information and data to the CCP, just under the illusion that it's under the control of an "American" company, which will also more than likely also feed that information to the American alphabet soup too, now. It also doesn't address the mental devastation it's doing to kids, so that's just going to continue anyway.

In other words, they're doing it in just about the worst way possible, as usual.

TikTok is here to stay. I don't follow politics much but you can't take a child's Xbox away and think there won't be some bad blood and animosity. . maybe TikTok gets banned but the era of shorts as a medium to raise awareness, enlighten, expose, entertain, teach, expand , (the list goes on) will manifest itself in a different way through loopholes , this shit exists, first it was napster, then morpheus, then limewire, then frostwire. It's got a period of time to sell off the share of its interest owned by the Chinese government. It's all bullshit. Tiktok is currently monitored 24/7 by a US data security firm based in Dallas. The REAL reason is that too much actual truth is being reported, especially on the local levels, regarding elections, bills, lawsuits, Congressional activity, etc., to some 170 million users. It's become too difficult to control. Some other outcomes will be reached, or the VPN businesses will be very busy.

I like the premise of Tic Tok The main problem is who owns it a country that vows to destroy us and lies about who own the company. Everything that is on Tic Tok goes straight to China. Personal, public banking anything at all is sent to China. Yes China says no they don't collect any information, but we know they [China ] lie. Let an American company buy it without any connection to China and keep the format.
