Neil Armstrong recited those famous words " One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"

I was in both Canada and the United States that day. I was at a motel in the US when Armstrong actually stepped on the moon. We watched on a portable black and white TV like was common in motels back then, if they had a TV at all. It was in a small town without a television station, so we picked it up long distance from Winnipeg. We moved the rabbit ear antenna around for the best reception.
When I grew up, I thought landing on the moon was distant future if it was possible at all. I never thought it would be so soon. I still think it was pretty amazing. They were really lucky it was successful and everyone lived though it. The risks were tremendous and everyone had their fingers crossed that it would be successful. Then after the landing, they still had to take off from the moon, get back to the orbiter, then make it back to Earth. It was quite a feat with the technology they had at the time.
I was 15 and it was summer vacation. I spent a lot of time at a friend's house swimming in his pool with our friends. We also spent a lot of time at the beach. I was just learning to surf.
That summer was actually idyllic. I was young, inexperienced, and carefree. I started high school later that year.
I did watch the first lunar landing and walk on the moon. My family watched the whole thing on TV.
My dad was lead machinists for the experimental machine lab at a major aerospace corporation in Southern California and participated in the crafting of the Apollo spacecraft. We were very excited.
Actually although I'm only 33, I know a lot about this by hearing about it plus researching and I must say I'm quite disappointed.. I came across a video today of Neil himself saying that he never actually landed on the moon.. I had suspicions, the main reason was that the flag he apparently put on the moon was waving around mind you there is actually no gravity up there so if he had put a flag on the moon it would have stayed still not move around like it's flapping in the wind.. NASA has actually lied to everyone about this and made it look like we have actually been to the moon when in fact we have not.
Not even thought of. My grandmother wasn't even alive... she's 52. And my mom is 37.
Thanks for the MHO lol.

I was a kid in primary school , watching the staged movie as part of the so called " Spacewalk " , the job they did has not stood the test of time , but was real enough to suck in we little children.
It quite clearly was not real.
did that really happen? we got all this technology and can't land much on the moon right now. they did this in 196x?
I was asking my mother for something and arguing with my brother... I mis my mom, she was a saint.
@lightbulb27
It 100% did NOT happen , and was a staged event to try and win the " space race " against Russia , rewatch it , its absolute TOTAL bullshit , complete conspiracy , how in the hell in this day and age can people not see the reality.
I was in our family room, watching the television with the rest of my family, just like every other kid in America was doing that night.
I wasn’t born yet. Our family didn’t have a tv. I don’t think anyone in the village had a tv. They prob had an announcer for the villagers. However, I don’t think China publicized such news to their people back then.
I do remember that... :)
We (family) were gathered in Granddad's house and were listening to a real time radio report of the landing.
It all felt ''important'' - although I did not know what that was about.
Yes - but without ''good night Jim Boy''
Oops... John Boy?
My parents were only ten years old and hadn't met yet.
my parents were still teenagers, I wasn't even planned yet :D
I think that's the year my parents started dating. I didn't come along for another 7 years. 😇
I was not even thought about. Also I struggle with what I did last month at times 🤣🤣.
its like these crime programs where they ask someone what they were doing on March 16 2022.
I was sitting in front of the t. v. watching it. It was even more important to me because that rocket launched on my 12th b-day! Someone gave me a birthday card with a boy in a space suit walking on the moon.
I was in first grade and they had the entire school in the lunchroom with tvs to watch it
Still in the Lord's soul ready room. My launch date isn't for another 20 or so years.
My parents hadn't even met, let alone had me! lol
I wasn't even in my mother's womb. I did. not exist. Perhaps my soul was hosted in a different body at the time. Who knows?
Listening to the Detroit Tigers-Cleveland Indians (now Cleveland Guardians) game when the lunar landing pre-empted in on WJR 760 A. M radio in Detroit. (Cleveland won 5-4, the score by which the Blue Jays beat the Bengals today,55 years and a day later.)
My mom and dad weren’t even born yet so I know I wasn’t even a thought 🤣
I was not yet born! In fact it still took another 34 years before I would be born!
55 years ago I was an egg in my mother’s ovary. She was 17. She remembers the moon landing vividly.
not even sure if my parents were born yet... lol
I was an egg. The sperm had not made its way yet. 🤪
My parents were watching this with me, I think I was 18 months old, asleep
Oops, my math is wrong, I was 2-1/2. I'm pretty sure I slept through this and my parents told me all about it the next day.
i enjoyed the answers here by @Dargil n loves2learn both described where i was too.
In the ether searching for the right multiverse that deserved my existence
I was in San Francisco at home 🏘️ watching it on TV.
So cool!!
I was in one of my previous incantations living as a cat.
Why would a cat want to become something as inferior as a human?
I didn't, all I remember is wishing in my next life I'd be the worlds best pussy and get lots of strokes and cream.
I was trying to avoid rebirth and wished to be a chicken egg that never got laid.
I was in the process of growing internal organs as a precocious little fetus. I wouldn't be born for about 6 months.
I was just a young tot. I think we lived in either Maryland or Virginia at that time.
I was not born yet but I have seen replays of the videos. It must have been incredible to watch
I wasn't going to happen for about another 18 years. My parents were still in high school then.
I was sitting in the family living room watching our 12-inch Zenith B&W television on one of just three channels when I heard him say, "I'm going to step off the LEM now. That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for Mankind."
I was the backyard playing with my cousins when my mom called us in for lunch.
@DizzyDesii yep.
So you’re not 38 lol
@DizzyDesii nope. ☺️
Well if you’re being serious, you look quite youthful for such old age
@DizzyDesii: thanks. ☺️
The accident didn't happen yet.
@dustybiker2 what are you talking about. Of course the accident happened already. Biden was born before they went to the moon. They should have taken him with them and left him there
No, I was teasing. They actually planned me so my sister wouldn't be alone. Irony. I hardly see her.
Since you commented Biden dropped out, so I will respectfully refrain from poking the man too today. 😬
not on earth yet maybe i was but not me yet
My mum was still in her youth so kids were not on the radar.
Just a tadpole staring out the end of my daddy's chalk sausage.
Now you mention it, the dates match up. I'm not entirely sure what parents were doing rather than watching the moon landing, but nine months later I was online.
Neither I nor the stomach I hailed from existed 💀
In my past life... probably done some bad stuff because I'm suffering in this one 😭😭..
I wasn't even a thought in my father's balls.
I wasn't even a zygote. I was truly nothing.
I was not born yet 😂
But I do appreciate the 60s and 70s
I was outside looking at the moon to see them. I was 3 weeks from turning 7.
somewhere in my toddler mom & dad's bodies
Not existing hell my my father wasn’t existing. My mom was born night before.
I wasn't anywhere haha. I didn't exist.
Watching it on TV.
In a crib in Bloomington, IN
unborn and not even conceived.
Not born yet…
Non-existent.
didn't exist💀
In my dad's nuts. So... where ever he was.
😂😭
Hmm into the void.
Not yet born.
