I want TikTok to be banned and I want to remind people that Democrats & Republicans have pushed a Congressional Hearing with the CEO of Bytedance giving testimony that they all felt compelled that American Data is being seized by China allowing them to steal insight in our country’s citizens which led to a Bill landing on President Biden’s desk allowing him to sign it into law that will take effect January 19th, 2025 IF Bytedance doesn’t sell it to an American corporation and they make no such plan as of now.

Now all of a sudden people are pretending that didn’t happen, also pretending Trump wasn’t the one to try to kill it off before leaving office in 2020. Clearly, Democrats and Republicans can agree that TikTok is terrible for the security of our country (even with the covoiete that the Hearings & Committee found nothing to the sort also asked dumb questions wasting taxpayer dollars in the process….).

I hate TikTok can’t wait for it to be banned for no other reason than it annoys me. Cheers.

No I'm sure that they have already met in person and they have made some sort of deal to where tick tock somehow gives the information that they get from each individual to the government because that's really what it was all about is tiktok was not complying to the government's rules it's just like gag I guarantee you gag has something going on with the government to where the government can get into each one of our profile pages and see exactly what we are talking about and doing same with Google and every other place

People much smarter than me, have said this isn't about security. It's about government control over social media. TikTok has been around for 8 years, and no one talked about the ban. That's because the Dems had Twitter watching their backs. In comes Elon, and they lost their protection. Now they're faced with having to face free speech.

If you watched the interview between Tucker and Elon, Elon flat out said that Biden is suing him. He said that Trump loses, The Biden communist party will throw him in prison. Why would they go after Tik Tok first? It's easy.

I'm amazed that people need big brother to save them from themselves. Just uninstall the app like I did a few years back.

Unlikely but not impossible.

I don't think that politicians have the political will to ban it because it would lead to a public backlash. On the other hand there is a new Sheriff in town named Donald Trump who is already reading China the riot act on many fronts. He is the ONLY one who will put America first in everything he does and I think he will do anything necessary to see that they stop using Tik Tok to spy on Americans. Most likely he will be successful in forcing them to divest so that America has control of the site and they are out of it.

I think tiktok has nothing to do with security. While there is no doubt that china uses the data collected on it, just like US does from its social media platforms, it has to do with tiktok not complying with any content moderation like American social media companies would.

Additionally, it has to do with American social media companies facing competition and being beat by a foreign company in this space. They can't regulate it as they would other industries since by its nature, social media is such a wild animal.

It’s useless to compare to facebook and twitter which are American owned companies that probably provide the government with data to spy on people

Tik tok does the same for a foreign superpower which is china.
It literally is a national security threat

No government wants to give up any propaganda channels to an enemy country. The US has Facebook, Instagram, Google, and many, many more while China has... Tik Tok as the only foreign social machine in the West. Of course, China and Russia are using millions of bots on our platforms to create division as well.

That's an issue for hegemony and the illusion of power.

It’s possible but i heard china may relinquish tic toc so USA doesn’t ban it. They might give up tick toc.. might. The fear is that China is using tic toc as a hacking point to data mine and there's proof that tic toc is being used in this manner its super risky in a security standpoint to use tic toc

The United States accounts for 19% of Tik Tok's total revenue. I think the United States hopes that this will be enough potential loss of revenue to force them to sell.

Do I think the ban will happen? Well the corts have already ruled it is not a violation of the first amendment. So yes this paves the way that it could very well happen. But I think if it does an imitator (like Trumps Truth Social) will pop up in it's place.

I doubt it, but what irks me about this is, Trump wanted to ban it in his first term and people were saying it's unconstitutional, but the second Biden brought up the idea of banning it, everyone was suddenly on board
