Should the Barnets do jail for child abuse for abandoning an 8 year old disabled Natalie Grace in an apartment & moved to Canada?

They had her declared legally as 22 years old using shady lawyers and despite multiple doctors that they took her to stating that she was still a child not an adult they managed to get their family GP to testify that she was an adult posing as a child. Kristine Barnett had a career as an author on autism and had built up a reputation for helping special needs kids, and a child with dwarfism was perfect to further her reputation but Natalia had many problems from her time in state care and had trouble getting along with the kids they already had. Rather than see her reputation damaged she concocted a fiction that Natalia was 22 years old and her husband went along with it. They maintained a postion as Natalia's legal guardian despite her being declared 22 that way Natalia could get disability money for her living expenses and apartment. They refused to let anyone else take over the guardianship to prevent Natalia being once again declared a child because that would mean they'd be guilty of child abuse, child neglect and child abandonment which wouldn't look good for Kristen Barnet who was on talk shows about working with autistic children.

I think they should be locked up. Abandoning an 8 year old disabled child and moving to Canada and making sure no one else could adopt her is just evil.

Jail? No Execution. Death penalty. I HATE child abusers. I am a victim of child abuse my self. there is a special place in hell for those that hurt children, and we should hasten their trip to said place.

Was actually only one doctor, a GP who signed all the paperwork and testified for the Barnets that Natalia was 20 instead of 8, all the other specialist doctors were confirming her true age.
The judges also went along with it. In the prosecution case the judge refused to even consider the case that she wasn't 22 and any evidence that she was underage when she was abandoned was thrown out including birth certificate and the birth mother's testimony, DNA tests, doctor's testimony.
Her true age has finally been recognised

I think they were lying. Mrs Barnet concocted the story because she adopted Natalia for the wrong reasons and really didn't have time for her with her career, Mr Barnet was just spineless. They were worried how her book and career would go if it came out they rejected a special needs child they adopted. What would they have said if something had happened to Natalia

i'm probably more anti-adoption than anti-abortion. but we'd have less adoption if mothers would stop abandoning their children. the only reason to abandon a child in today's world is mental illness.

Well Natalie's mother was a teen and Ukrainian doctors basically persuaded her after birth to give her up for a better life as she was disabled
