This statistic is disputed. However it can not be disputed that UK police have made arrests for silent prayer or for silent thought. If a policeman suspects you are having thoughts you can be arrested... and tried since that has also.

Since the source of the statistic is the Unite The Kingdom movement I will jump to the presumption that the comments that have lead to people being arrested have been in respect to immigration. The numbers seem to be rock solid analysis by the Times.

Incidentally illegal immigration was a major reason was a major reason for Brexit and it seems gov't has made it illegal to complain of illegal immigration.

Ireland is in a similar position with their gov't directly against the peoples wishes.

According to human rights watch, over half a million people got prosecuted between 2017 and 2022 for being part of a Muslim minority. You can be sure many got spotted with the help of the internet.

According to NGO safeguard defenders, between 9000 and 19000 people get out every year into secret detention for political motivated reasons.

Yes, but that's not what was being discussed. jshm2 was comparing the UK arresting and imprisoning people for speech (the vast majority of it being anti-illegal immigration) to ICE actually arresting illegal immigrants and deporting them. Very different issue.

And we all know that the UK and Europe in general have little interest in deporting their illegal immigrants. At least, they keep voting in leaders that have no interest in doing so.
