Today, Aug. 24, is the most popular day of the year for US employees to call out sick, according to a survey by PTO management software company Flamingo. It even tops America’s second-sickest day of the year, Feb. 13—which suspiciously usually lines up with the day after the Super Bowl.
So, will you be taking the day off and call in sick today?

Ironically I actually am sick today, however, at my last job I worked remote so I didn't need to call in sick very often. I just would reschedule my call in demonstrations so that they could actually understand me without me coughing, sneezing, or hearing my hoarse throat. I could still do my other work (even if I didn't feel up to it).
Ohhh Bri Bri is sick today, i hope that you recover very soon 😌
Thank you. It's just been a really tough day in general health wise. Im sure tomorrow will be better
I don't work but if I did I would only call in sick if absolutely necessary as in I was coughing a lot and sneezing with my nose running because obviously I wouldn't wanna make my coworkers sick.
its rare for me to call in sick
i’ve actually been trying to get better at not working TOO much
Strange for such a random date to be the most common for calling out. I wonder what that’s about.
In Michigan, it’s November 15; opening day of deer season. They have repeatedly considered making it a state holiday because so many people take time off for hunting.
I don't want to miss another opportunity to earn more buck$ today.
In fact, today is another "motivation day" for my staffs.
I can't. I am my own boss. I'd have to lie to myself and that's pretty difficult.
I actually am sick today, recovering from bronchitis, but not contagious, and I went to work.
No, luckily or not, but today is not a work day for me :P
For Aussies Tuesday is the day to chuck a sickie though either side of a three day weekend tempts many. By three day weekend I mean when a public holiday occurs on a Friday or Monday
Four day weekends are better still.
I am mostly retired but go back to teaching in a couple of weeks.
I really miss playing hookey from work. I used to like banging in sick on a random weekday and hanging out at the beach when it was not crowded.
Unfortunately today was a day off for me 😄
although I am starting to see a lot of sick people these days..
No. But i was tired so i was up working for a couple hrs. and then decided to just go back to bed.
Nope. Every day is a holiday.
Today is kind of one of my days off, I clocked out at 7am
I'm not American but I didn't have work.
