What is your opinion about the zoo in the UK deciding not to euthanise the tiger that killed a guy?

[Anonymous]

It was reported the man who climbed inside the tiger enclosure had schizophrenia.

I honestly think the zoo made the right decision by not putting the tiger down. 🐅 The man climbing into the enclosure was a tragedy, especially if he was struggling with schizophrenia, but the tiger was only acting on its natural instincts. It doesn't understand human rules or know that what it did was wrong.

I feel sorry for the man's family because losing someone that way must be heartbreaking. I also think we need to be careful not to blame everything on his mental illness without knowing the full story. The zoo should investigate how he got into the enclosure and whether anything could have been done to prevent it.

As sad as this is, I don't think the tiger should have to die for it. We can feel compassion for the man and his family without forgetting that the tiger is a wild animal too. 💔

Why should a tiger die for being a tiger? It's been conditioned all It's life to understand anything put in the enclosure is for it to eat or play with. It was probably thanking the zoo keepers for its new treat.

[Iron_Man]

He didn’t act like the man was a treat. He bite to attack to hurt the man he wasn’t trying to eat him.

[purplepoppy]

In the UK zoos like to supplement the diet with whole animals, Usually fallen stock from farms. The tigers play with it a while then drag it away to eat. That guy would have been eaten for sure.

[Iron_Man]

But not live human beings, and those are just chopped up meat. I’ve never seen the body of a pig and head thrown into a zoo.

The tiger didn't escape and go on a rampage. A guy climbed in there with it. So why should punish a tiger for being a tiger? Now, i can understand in hindsight if the tiger becomes unusual aggressive towards the staff there.

[Maybe_Maybe_not]

Ethically speaking, punishing wildlife brought here for our own amusement would make no sense to me. Killing it would be vendetta, not justice, plus it won't bring back the dead

[slatyb]

Why should they? Tigers are rare and the tiger just did what tigers do. If the tiger had somehow escaped from the enclosure it might be different.

[Likes2drive]

The tiger was acting on instinct and didn’t do anything wrong, it’s not like he escaped and attacked anyone so it’s probably the correct decision by the zoo

[Anonymous]

Seems reasonable. The tiger hasn’t done anything wrong. It just did what tigers do. If you’re dumb enough to climb into a tigers enclosure that’s what you can expect.

[EmmaMary]

Because it was Not the tigers fault.

[tiredpanda]

Correct decision.

[Nikki1989]

The tiger did nothing wrong.

[Agape93]

Well the tiger didn't do anything wrong.

That was fake. More fake news
