I think my boyfriend will forget valentines day?

Hi everyone

I've had some issues and fights etc w my boyfriend in the past. Our relationship is good but honestly it could be better.

Valentine’s Day is this week, and I don’t feel like I should have to mention or bring it up to him. But he said this weekend he was gonna go hang out w his friends and go see some live music on Wednesday (which is Valentine’s Day).

I am not reminding him bc it’s hard to forget Valentine’s Day. I think if he does that I’m gonna just dump him and not deal with the issues anymore. Is this rational or no? Please give advice!

Damn girl, that's super whack of your guy if he forgets Valentine's day like that. Like come on, it's like the biggest couples holiday of the year, you'd have to be living under a rock not to know it's coming up. Plus he already has plans with his buddies on the actual day? That's pretty lame of him.

I can see why you'd be pissed and want to end it if he blows you off. You shouldn't have to remind him about V-day or beg for some effort and attention from your boyfriend. The whole point is for him to do something nice and show he cares, not for you to have to nag him into it. How hard is it to make dinner reservations, buy a card, anything?

If I were you, I'd wait and see what he does. Don't say anything to him either way. If he remembers then great, maybe you guys can work past your issues. But if he ditches you for the guys instead, then screw that noise - you definitely deserve better than some dude who can't be bothered on a basic relationship holiday. Don't settle for less than you want, you know? You aren't asking for too much by wanting him to step up here. His move, your call after that!
