What's going on?

1. Is she a wife, a girlfriend, or do you have both? Because if you have both, then that was cause to throw you out right there.

2. She's being a "bitch about this" because women are constantly under pressure to conform to the male idea of "perfection". Men of any weight, any shape, etc. can do whatever they want (and often require "perfection" in the women they chase--i.e., the out of shape loser lusts after the cheerleader, but doesn't improve himself to get her), but a woman is looked down on as mediocre or unworthy if she isn't Tera Patrick. You should love your wife/girlfriend/whatever she is for who she is, not her weight. you shouldn't even discuss her weight, except to defend her. the proper response to that text would be "she's perfect to me" or something along those lines. if, in the future, she herself starts worrying about her weight, you can support her efforts by going on the diet with her, taking walks, etc.

I've though about this a lot; I'm 5'3'', 140, definitely not the "ideal woman".When I overhear mine talking about how much he loves long legs, long hair, all I can do is look in the mirror and wonder why he's with me (my legs are definitely hobbit-esque, and when we started dating I had chin-length hair). I always realize that the fact that he is with me, however, is a testament to his depth of character. Your comment is a direct representation of how shallow you can be, however unintentionally. No girl wants to be with someone like that.

You better give her a few days to cool down, then show up with flowers and take-out, and then spend the evening showing her how much you love her and how much she means to you.

She'll come around, especially when you let her know how much you love her/don't care about her weight/etc.

If your friend is asking, she probably is a bit fat and is sensitive about it. That shouldn't surprise you. Besides, who wants to get an insulting text out of nowhere like that?
