When I was younger, I used to date women who were a lot older than me - I dated a woman from the time she was 45 until she was 49. I also dated a woman who was 50 when I met her and now she's 61. Another woman I dated was 31 when I met her and now she's 45, etc. There are several more, but I guess I finally figured out that I had a thing with women who were older because they must have reminded me of my mother or something! I know - Yuck, gross, etc.! When I finally realized what I was doing, I was totally disgusted with myself and with dating older women! I'm not saying that everybody who dates older has a problem, but I think I did! Now I'm dating a woman who is a bit younger than me, and I've found that I get along with her so much better than I did with the older women, since I must have seen them as mother-types before or something. I found that I don't like to be bossed around by a woman who is older than me unless she is my mother! That's how all the older women I dated seemed to see me - as someone who needed a "mommy!" I realized that it's time to stand on my own two feet in life and not be dependent on a woman to make me happy, although my current girlfriend pleases me enormously! :)
I already know that I don't get along with my age group. The youngest I've dated was 20, three years ago. And the oldest I've dated was 40, two years ago. I'm currently 26. Can anyone guess, why I'm posting this as anonymous?
I prefer younger myself, probably 21-25, but I'm not obsessed over it. Lucky for me I'm a guy and we have a knack for being able to date younger for a lot longer. Just look at Hugh Hefner, George Clooney, etc. I know a guy in his late 60s still dating women in their 20s & 30s like it's no big deal. To some it may seem weird, but if you knew him he's young at heart and most people are blown away that he's really that old. And of course he and Hefner are the extreme end of the spectrum.
For girls in their late teens early 20s it's normal to date at your own age or older. I wouldn't even think about it really.
OLDER! I have always dated guys a few years older than me, but never more than 2 or 3 years! Now I am dating a guy that is 7 years older than me, and it is the best dating decision I have ever made. I was hesitant at first, but I decided to give it a shot anyway! He is mature, grounded, has a career, has priorities, and treats me like a queen! He knows how to treat a woman, unlike most guys in their early 20's!
Of course at 17 I wouldn't suggest you date someone who is 24! Maybe 20! The older you get, the easier it is to date older men! When you are still young, you need to date more in your age group!
Uh, I'm 18 and usually I tend to go for older guys just because at my age if I go too young, it can mean the guy hasn't even properly hit puberty yet. LOL But then again, they guy I'm into now who I get along with VERY well is about 8 months younger than me so. I guess it really depends on the guy.
Lol doesn't matter, just as long as his maturity is level with mine or a little higher it's cool. Although I won't date three years older yet, for me that would be awkward.
I prefer to date someone my own age because I feel like if I date someone younger, I would have a intellectual advantage over him and wouldn't really have a good conversation with him. I don't really like dating someone TOO much older because then I feel really dumb when they make a statement, and I'm like, "Wha? "
It seems as though you see a lot of guys going out with younger girls but no girls going out with younger guys. does it happen? And why does it...
