Lol, ok well I'm not sure that I could get every Saturday off from my job, so I was wondering if it's possible. Like, what would I have to tell the manager in order to get every Saturday off? By the way I'm a sales associate if that helps.
Saturdays are usually important for sales. So he might not want to give you every Saturday off.
One possibility is to lie. Say you're registered for weekend classes at college, or you have a second job. But this could backfire. Scratch that, lying will absolutely backfire. Terrible idea.
Or you could simply ask for every Saturday off. Worst he'll do is say no. You might offer a trade of some kind ... if he gives you Saturdays off, you'll work a certain shift that others don't want, or you'll do a particular task that no one else wants to do.
Or, you could look for a different job that's better for your life...
Thanks, I guess the only way without lying is the option with the trade off, I hate it always ruins my plans.By the way that's the only type of job I can get right now. Anyways yeah thanks. - 15 days ago
I'm also a sales associate. It totally depends on your manager. My manager likes me alot, and if I need all saturdays off, she knows it's for a good reason. And I just take off all saturdays. Sure it may not make other people happy, but if you need it off you need it off. Good luck!
Unfortunately, Saturday is big sales day and the retail God that is your scheduler wants you there. It always happens. I've tried to get weekends off at every job I worked, and it has never happened. And right now I work two jobs and go to graduate school full-time. I still work Saturdays.
We compromised. I work one, the other girl works one. Everyone has every other Saturday off, so that we all get some weekends free to ourselves. The only time this doesn't apply is during the holiday season, when we are all usually working some time on Saturdays.
I work at a grocery store, and we have availability requests. People just put what they can work during the week, and management puts it in the computer, and the computer makes the schedule. If there is something you do on saturdays, you can just tell them you're busy. Otherwise, I don't really know.
Depending on staffing levels, see if there can be a rotation so you can work every 'other' Saturday. Ask colleagues if he or she can cover Saturday for you and you work his/her shift. Put in for a schedule change to work different days so Saturdays are free. If all else fails, it might be wise to find another job.
