Guys, would you hold your girlfriend's handbag (if she aksed you to)?

Question

She asked me to hold her bag (when she had to go into a public toilet). I didn't hold it. I'd never hold it. It's humiliating and emasculating. What do you guys think?

You need to get in touch with what is more important - what others think of you or what your mate thinks of you.

Your definition of being a man isn't what a man really is. Being a man is putting others first. Being a man means to know who you are and to be comfortable with it. Being a man helps people when they need it, if what they are asking isn't too outrageous. Holding a purse isn't outrageous.

Purses aren't my fancy, but when ia friend asks me to carry hers, I hold it over my shoulder or around my neck because I know I'm helping her out by doing so.

You, sir, are no man.

On a serious note, its just a hand bag... If you know who you are then it doesn't matter what others think. With conference a man wearing a pink dress can make it look cool and mainly at the same time. Life isn't always meant to taken seriously got to life a little be able to confidently laugh at yourself ever now and then.

My guy is a typical jock and he has held my handbag on a number of occasions without so much as blinking a eye. In fact he even offers to when he sees I'm in trouble or need to do something.  I see no way in how it's humiliating. Perhaps if you have insecurity issues but like I said my guy is a total jock who's as "manly" looking as they come and it doesn't bother him the slightest.

I would. Don't mind about what other people think, it's what your girlfriend thinks that matters!

I was joking with a girl once about her handbag, as it was quite big and I was asking her if she didn't find it annoying to carry that big bag around all day, she told me she didn't mind and asked me if I wanted to try and wear it for a whole evening. I then told her, "only if you wear one of my bandshirts for the rest of the evening". Surprisingly she agreed and the next time we went out with friends, I was carrying her handbag around all day and she was wearing my most "shocking" Slayer bandshirt. And even though we both got humiliated by each other, we had a lot of fun that night, and that's what counts :)

If you're serious about this girl, hold the bag. What you're saying by refusing to hold it is that what other people think when they see you is more important than her asking for a favor. Think about that and which is more important. I hate being seen holding a purse or anything like that, but you can be damn sure that if a girl I love needs me to, I won't hesitate to do it to make her happy.

I never ask a guy to hold my purse. But a couple months ago, I went camping with a group of my friends and in my bag/purse I had like a half gallon of water. XD I took my bag with me when we went hiking and it got heavy FAST. My guy friend was nice enough to carry it the rest of the way. :)

If you aren't secure enough in your masculinity to hold a girlie looking handbag for a few minutes you need to work on that. Being comfortable with yourself is more masculine than constantly making sure you are projecting the "right" image to others, in particular strangers.

I don't have a handbag for my man to hold, but if I did, he'd be all for it. Sheesh, the man carried around tampons in his pocket for me yesterday since I was unprepared. He didn't have a problem with that. He is very in touch with his masculinity that even if he were flouncing around in a pink tutu no one would doubt that he is a man. It's just a bag, sir. You must be very young to get offended. Also, I doubt you'll get very many people to agree with you that it's detrimental to your manhood.

And my boyfriend helps me to carry stuff if I ask him to.

Man you gatta make that bag look good. When people say oh I like your bag say thank you laughing at the end makes it seem like you don't care. And ask before she says anything. BUT if she tells you to that's a different story because I won't if she ask then no problem

It's just a bag and you would only have to carry it for a few minutes. My boyfriend has held mine for me a few times. You must not be comfortable in your masculinity if doing that would "humiliate and emasculate" you.

It seems like you are asking for other people's opinions just to shame on them. I doubt you are actually open-minded enough to try to understand why they all think differently from you... Or maybe you are just trolling? LOL

The fact that you even ask us this question means that you don't really love her, and I feel bad for her. You girlfriend, supposed to be someone you love, is asking for a small favor, carrying a bag? that's such a trivial matter. If you love her, you would be more than willing to. This is not even about masculinity or pleasing your girlfriend... She's merely asking for help -*- Yet you let pride and ego takes over your generosity over your supposed-to-be loved one.

Honestly, a guy help carrying a girl's bag show how much of a man he is, it shows that he has courage to go out of the comfort zone to help people in need. A guy who is selfish and succumbing to pride?, eh how is that even awesome?
