In my personal opinion I feel that you need to leave him. Staying with him for the child is one of the worst things that you can do because your son (maybe not now) will know how unhappy you are, and the stress from you and your husband are going to make it a very unhappy life for a little kid. Many people stay together for the kids because they think it's the best thing to do, but wouldn't you rather raise him on your own and be happy not seeing that asshole everyday than having to wake up to him and thinking about what he did and being pissed off and depressed for the rest of your life? I have been in you situation, except the girl wasnt my best friend, and I stayed with the guy, up until the 3rd time I caught him cheating on me. I kept thinking that he was going to change.thought maybe he would stop drinking.stop cheating.start treating me right.it didn't happen, so I left him. And now me and my kids are so much happier than we were before, yes, it's very hard doing it on your own, but it is so worth it actually being happy and not depressed and knowing that I am making my kids happier.
Leave! Think of it this way; the man is a drunkard and he's cheating on you, so he's obviously not a good partner for you. If he's not a good partner for an adult, then what kind of father will he make? If he's a drinker, can you be sure he won't do it around the baby, or let it affect his relationship with the baby?
Right now you and your son take the spotlight. You have to worry about your little family, not some man who obviously does not view your relationship as important enough to stay faithful to. Screw him. And his little chick, too.
Gather some proof of him cheating and of his excessive drinking, serve him divorce papers and make sure you get what you need in child support and alimony. He may not be able to stay sober or faithful, but he should remain responsible for the child he brought into the world. He needs to leave, not you. And if his drinking is a serious problem, make sure that gets brought up in any discussion of custody or visitation rights.
You now need a new best friend. No reason to speak to that one again... a real friend would NEVER EVER EVER do that.
Its time to get out! Take your son and run.run.as fast as you can. Your ex is having some real issues and you can't overcome that for him. Concentrate on your son.and his needs.

and I can give you advise? my current advise is to let go of all expectations and worldly responsibilites except for your son and yourself and job. live in the moment and the moment is ok... go on vacation mentally.

What a hoe! What a jerk! if you stay together for the kid, the kids eventually going to grow old enough to understand the situation and feel depressed because he kept too people that didn't love each other anymore together. I think it would be much better for the child and you if you guys shared custody and found the people you were actually supposed to be with!
Leave him.ask your family and trustworthy friends for help with your son. You should stop referring to that person as your best friend clearly she is no friend at all.
A drunk and a cheater? LEAVE! He's no good for you and the baby. Go live your life and in time you'll find someone who loves you and respects you.

leave him now before the problem gets worse and your child is old enough to know about it.
staying with him could be dangerous, especially for your little boy. Do you have family or REAL friends you can count on to help you through this? You should get away as soon as you can.
