Hello guys! So most of you have seen my Takes where I highlight some of my favorite things about the current season. I've done one for Summer and one for Autumn. A Winter one will also become part of the family in a few weeks. Today I've decided to do a special Thanksgiving edition. Join me while I highlight some of my favorite foods, activities and games, and things I'm thankful for on this Thanksgiving. Pull up a chair!
Cooking With My Mom
As a kid I used to sit in the kitchen with my Mom while she prepared dinner. She would tell me stories from her childhood and she'd always let me help. That tradition still stands. I've been in the kitchen with her today helping and listening to her talk, and watching her do what she loves. Very nostalgic.
Baked Macaroni and Cheese
Oh. My. Word. I absolutely love any kind of macaroni and cheese, but this kind is my favorite. It's what I look forward to eating the most of on Thanksgiving. And I may be totally biased when I say this, but my mom's is the best!
Cornbread
Cornbread is a must. And it has to be sweet. That is all.
Eggnog (Regular and Spiked)
So I didn't used to be a fan of eggnog, and honestly, I'm not sure what changed either lol. But I can't go through the holiday season without it. I recently tried the alcoholic version of it a year or two ago. I believe it's called coquito. Delicious!
Playing Pokeno
Another family tradition. The game is similar to Bingo. Everyone gets a card that has numerous cards from the deck, and a handful of chips. The caller plucks from the deck and calls out the cards. If you have ever that card on your board, you place a chip there. First to get 5 in a row (pokeno) wins. My family get a serious about this game lol. We play for coins. There are usually 5 cups: pokeno, 4 corners, center, 4 of a kind and cover all. I look forward to this.
Sweet Potato Pie
The best pie ever! Once my mom brings it out, it disappears within seconds. I like it warm with vanilla ice ice cream. Yum.
Baked Ziti
A specialty of mine. I'll be making it tomorrow.
