Girls, do you ever send your friend in to investigate a guy on social media if you're interested in him?

I am the kind of person that really reads into things and very little gets past me. Sometimes I overanalyze, but I am very observant and I honestly don't believe in coincidences (especially if it happens multiple times with the same person).

Anyway the other day me and my friends were all talking in a group chat, the girl I like is also in the group chat. They started talking about instagram and there's this guy we all know that posts really weird pictures on instagram. The girl I like started sharing them with us and one of my friends, we'll call him John, asked why she followed him and another, call him Bob, said because she's in love with him. To which Bob's girlfriend replied "no, just no". The girl I like liked that message. Pretty much everyone in the group knows I like this girl, and I really do think she likes me too.

About 30 minutes later, one of my crushes good friends added me on Instagram. I am never on instagram and have maybe talked to her friend twice. The friend also started following me on Twitter a couple months ago, one a night that me and my crush were texting a lot.

So basically I took this as she started talking to her friend about how I may think she likes this guy from instagram (which she doesn't, not many people like this guy, I'm not worried about it). There was no reason for her friend to add me on there, since I never use it and never have contact with her. It's also important to note that my crush is kind of shy and we have made multiple plans for this summer to hang out and do things together.

Girls, do you send your friends in to investigate a guy for you? Why would she do this?

I may be reading waaaaaay too much into this, I tend to do that, but it just seemed like way too much of a coincidence for it not to be something. Especially since it happened twice

In all honesty no. I don't send my friends to investigate but i do what her friend does so i'll tell you about us girls' little secret and what may went down with this. This girl, your crush, probably talked to her friend about you and she did mention how much she must like you. Her friend - cause that's what friends do took that as her cue to look into you. Girls usually want to know who their friends potential boyfriend might be out of curiousity. Us girls are pretty bitchy but when it comes to being friends if i do all that stuff and follow you on Twitter and instagram and just find a bit of important information like you being engages or having a baby that my friend has no clue of i'll tell her. Don't you guys do that too but just through chit chat? :D

haha yea we do, in my experience we more just talk about it and look her up, occasionally we'll send a friend request or something. But most times it's just to look who she is, especially if we don't really know her too well.

yes, i do. And I'm pretty good at it lol not going to lie. Also because if I'm going out on a date with him, id like to know who he is and if anything bad pops up with his name,
Also my friends like to look up people i go on dates with just for a safety thing, you know? make sure he's not a killer or anything lol

haha ok, yea because she knows me pretty well, we've been talking for a couple months so it could just be her friend being curious and trying to find out more about me herself

I'm like you in a lot of ways, I also am REALLY observant and I also overthink many things. If you ask me, I'd say it's possible that she added you for that reason, you never know.

I don't like it ha, I feel like I am always stressing out and I feel like every little thing someone does has a meaning to it. I've been getting better and not been thinking about it as much. I more reserve those thoughts for things like this, where there may legitimately be something there.

I feel you bro, I feel exactly the same way. Literally during classes I'll be in my own mind trying to imagine other peoples perceptions of things and their perspective and shit. I'm just too observant.
