Have you taken a CPR and first aid course? Are you certified?

Yes I have. First training about 10 years ago, than yearly refreshers.
I've never had to handle life threatening situations. The worst case was a lady who suddenly complained of severe abdominal pains, need to vomet and she was becoming weaker every minute.
We called the emergency nr (112 in Europe) and continued to talk to the lady to keep her conscious.
We found out she hadn't taken her blood pressure medication.
In the end, in hospital, no specific cause could be found although when the ambulance was on scene they too confirmed it looked very serious and worked to stabilize her for half an hour.
It ended will. She was back at work 2 days later.
It may be a hole in my memory... were you the girl who's dog's name begins with an L? I know so many people here, I'm not certain anymore!
I did take them because I was a lifeguard
my experiences?
it was fine, relatively easy
How long are these courses?
usually about 1-2 hrs for several days
Cost?
not sure my job paid for them
they are easy enough to go through. you take a test at the end but even if you fail you can retake it.
yes... I think CPR lasts a year before you re-test. which isn't bad. but if you let the certification lapse you have to re-take the course
I think First AID certs are good for 5 years... but keep in mind it's been over 10 years since had to do either of these
Yeah I am certified! You're in the US right, so you can check out the American Red Cross. My cousin is in Cali and she did the Emergency Preparedness Education course through the Red Cross and it cost her about $90 (I've never seen CPR courses cost above $150 anyways).
I have to take the class again, but last time I did it, the class was one day and it was taught by a paramedic. The fee you pay generally covers your spot in the class, plus any materials they give you to use and also if they give you a textbook for future reference. I got a textbook in my course.
The training itself is pretty easy. The instructor will show you everything you need to do and sometimes they even have mannequins to practice on during the class.
I think that is the higher end, like for an extreme course. The prices are about the same here, they range from $70 - $150 depending on the class. And you usually get a textbook and sometimes a small first aid kit (bandaids, tape, cream, gauze, scissors, tensor bandage, all that basic stuff) that you can take home. All you have to bring is a notebook and a pen lol.
Here's the Red Cross page where you can put in your zip code and they'll find classes for you in your area. https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class
I am AED, CPR and first aid certified through The American Red Cross. it cost 90 for all three. It was two days of training for all three.
Hey thanks!

Yeah actually a requirement i graduate my hs for some reason is that you have to become certified through a 4 day training course and a kid from my school actually used it literally 30 days later for 10 minutes until the medics arrived and he was awarded a medal and it was a big celebration
You can do it through the American Heart Association or Red Cross. The general public can do the "lay" course (layman) as opposed to professional which is required by health care workers. I paid $90 for the professional and I think lay is like half the price. It's usually like 3-4 hours tops.
I got it for when I was a personal trainer. It was a one time class about an hour long, and I think it was $25. You get to make out with a dummy, money well spent.
It could depend on class size. It's one of those things where everybody has to practice it, so depending on if it's a class of 5 or 25 it could take longer.
It was a full edged first aid course with bandaging wounds to disinfecting them to CPR. My dad owns a company so he paid to course for me through that. It was a week long course
In CPR and rescue breathing (for lifeguarding) Technically my certification is expired. I've made around 32 successful saves. All were conscious. One had a dislocated shoulder.
im a instructor. have been for 20 yrs. you should check with your work. if not then check your local red cross. national safety council also offer classes, they vary on what you want. 4 hrs for cpr/ aed to 8 hrs to add first aid. cost vary too. around 120 is average as another person stated too. good luck.
I'm not certified but yes I do know CPR. Your question should state, 'for those in United States of America' :D
Which state & city are you in?
I'd do it when there's no qualified person around. My being bitten is secondary to saving someone's life :) I can deal with courts - np :D
In which case he / she'd have died when someone with a certificate pasted on his / her back had done it too :)
It's ok young lady, I don't really look too much into it when it comes to saving someone's life or modesty :) I am well capable of handling such things since my teens :)
Im certified for work, it took about 30 minutes - an hour. I got it 3 times, once free in school, then $10 twice because my work deals and I had a firefighter come teach us again. It was a good experience.
Yeah, certified as well. It's a good experience and good thing to know. Be ready to make out with a lot of mannequins.
I took it in college so it wasn't an out and out written down payment. It was included with my tuition when I signed up for it.
Im certified for both. My CPR certicate expires soon so Im getting my retraining this weekend. It only takes a full day for each. Cost depends on where you go, sometimes some places offer training for free.
It's around $120 for both. It's cheaper in some places.
i've followed a course as healthcare assistant over a duration of three months..and part of it is first aid...its really useful
yes i'm certified..it cost me RS 12,000($396.43)
CPR forms part of the first aid course
I have twice but not certified haha, once it was for a babysitting course I took but they didn't certify you & the other was for school but they didn't certify you either
CPR certified, not first aid. CPR courses are pretty easy. In all seriousness, you could learn it and pass the certification in 20 minutes.
I was CPR certified. It expired though. I took the course in my high school health class for free.
I plan on taking it at my university again in the fall, for free also.
I'm.healthcare certified, but you just need a basic course.mI'm not sure how long or the cost for that
I have been certified. I went to a gym that had the course maybe 3 nights. It cost I think $75 or so. The certification lasted only 2 years I think.
Also this was for CPR.
And those 3 nights were maybe 2.5-3 hours long. Trying to remember some details.
Well my school offers lessons because nursing students are required to be certified. It cost me 65 dollars and it was about a 3 and a half hour class.
They should teach the exact same thing - that doesn't make sense actually whats the difference?
Much appreciated
I did mine in the UK 4 days and about $120 in your money
Yes I have and yes I am :)
some community centers do it or free
