You and me both girl hahah I did really really well for like 3 months and didn't touch sweets at all! I was so proud, but then I went on vacation and had a little bit of soda and ruined it all because the sweet tooth came right back. I usually just try to find healthy alternatives for the things that I love. There's tons of recipes out there.

Just get other sweet things instead. I love making honey balls for example. I've got a major sweet tooth to, and foods that are naturally sweet are better, but can still help you gain weight.
Even smoothies can taste sweet without sugar because of all the natural sugars that fruits have in them.
First thing is you quit buying the junk and don't keep it in the house. Second, look at pictures of obese people. Third, look at your son. Do you want his mom to become obese and eventually become pre-diabetic and then maybe diabetic?
