One thing that might help a little is to focus on your breathing. Even though the temptation is to breathe fast when you haven't been running long, what you want is longer and slower breaths that will bring more oxygen into your lungs. The hardest part when you first start out is getting through a run and blocking the temptation to walk for part of the distance.

It sounds like you're getting really close! Just keep running every day and your stamina should increase to where 1.5 miles is nothing. Plus you're not going to stop on the day of your test because you really want the job.
