Need gift ideas? Every girl is different, but there are a few things they have in common. Knowing what they DO NOT want for Christmas is one of those things. Pay, attention, boys, and do not purchase the following:

1. Anything Associated with Weight Loss

If your girlfriend has not made a specific request, then do not buy her anything that is meant to help her lose weight or appear skinnier. This means no scale, no laser lipo sessions, no Spanx and no treadmill. Sure, she may complain about her weight or her thighs, but she does not want you to find the solution for them. As far as she knows, you love her just as she is.

2. Cubic Zirconia

What girl wouldn’t feel a little disappointed upon discovering that her gorgeous new diamond bracelet is, in fact, made of cubic zirconia? It’s like finding out that the hottest girl you ever hooked up with was indeed a guy. Unless you plan on taping a sign with big bold letters that say: “CUBIC ZIRCONIA,” save face and stick with silver or gold. They are less misleading.

3. Spy Gear

This should be a no brainer. Spy gadgets are really cool, but guess whose phone she’d be tapping or activity she’d be tracking. Hint: It won’t be her Mama’s.

4. Cleaning Equipment

She might be a neat freak. She may even enjoy cleaning after you. However, you should never ever give her a vacuum cleaner or an iron. She’s not your maid, so don’t make her feel like one.

5. Nothing

There’s only one thing worse than receiving a bad gift and that’s getting nothing at all. Even if your girl suggests that you needn’t exchange gifts this year, still give her something small to remind her that she’s in your thoughts. It can be a poem that you wrote or a framed picture of the two of you. Some of the best gifts are practically free.

My mother and I were talking about number 4. It's insulting to buy a woman cleaning products, people don't buy men cleaning products, it just reinforces the sexist stereotype. My mum said "women want new earrings or a necklace, not cleaning stuff". Only buy her cleaning products if she actively asks for them, same for #1.

I actually don't care about jewelry. Whatever it is made of doesn't really matter as long as it looks good.

And I think you should differentiate between diet related gifts and fitness related gifts, because they are every different.
If she is into fitness, it's completely acceptable to buy her fitness gear. I would love a treadmill a long with a bunch of other workout equipment that I really want.

Also a lot of people saying kitchen machines are bad gifts, but I actually love cooking and some kind unusual cooking machine would be great. My bf got me spiralizer a few years back and I love it

This list puts women in an unflattering light. It makes them sound ungrateful and like shopping for them is like negotiating a minefield. The SpyGear one is kinda weird to be honest.

I mean i wish someone would get me a Dyson vacuum! Those things are pretty sweet actually.

Um... Last year I got a shark steam mop for Christmas, and this year I got a Bissell pro steam cleaner for the carpet. And you know the kicker? I ASKED FOR THESE GIFTS! I absoultely love cleaning my floors and I know that Christmas is the perfect time of the year to get one rather expensive present. I see nothing wrong with this, just, like i see nothing wrong with getting my (chef) husband cooking gadgets.

I agree about Cubic Zirconia, but only because I don't like expensive looking sparkly stuff. The rest is pretty obvious, except for the 5th. I'd be okay with not getting anything.

I don't think gifts change much when you get married. If your wife has asked for a treadmill and you know she meant it and wasn't sarcastic about it, then buy one. If she's constantly said she needed new kitchen gear, then you could get away with getting her something for Christmas. You can't go too wrong with jewelry tbh.

Marriage has nothing to do with it. Knowing your girl is what matters. If your girl is a health nut, she's going to love exercise gear. If she's a couch potato, you're gonna be sleeping on that couch if you get her a treadmill. If she loves baking, getting her a new mixer will put her over the moon. If she only knows how to microwave, you're going to be feeding yourself for a while if you buy her pots and pans.

Every relationship is different. Some married couples get busy (with work, kids, life, etc.) and forget to take the time to do the little thoughtful things they used to do prior to getting married... so the holidays are a great time to remind your significant other that you care. Just pay attention to what he/she wants and put some thought into your gift.

I wouldn't care about the jewelry thing, not even a huge fan of it. The only real stones or silver or whatever I wear is stuff my mum got me, everything else I wear it fake.

And spy gear would be badass! We could do some crazy shit with that.

I like cubic zirconia stuff.. it's just as sparkly but it's not as bad if I lose it! Haha. And plus, the sentimental value of wearing something that my boyfriend gave me is much more important. My boyfriend gave me a cubic zirconia and silver necklace for my birthday, and I wear it everyday. Probably get compliments on it everyday too!
