Guys, how often do you share personal details with girls? And what does it mean when you do?

Well recently I've been getting to know this one particular guy friend more. He initiated the first conversation, and we just picked up from there. When messaging each other, we've gotten to a point where sometimes I'll ask a question (such as how he's doing) and he'll respond with an entire paragraph, full of details. Sometimes I don't even need to ask, and he'll offer up information. I love it, because sometimes with other friends I worry about not knowing what to say but that's never a problem with him. Anyway, I just find it interesting because he's the first guy who's shared so much about his personal life with me. I guess I'm just wondering is that something guys often do to girls? And how does a guy choose who he shares those stories with?

You can't really read anything into it unless you know if he's like that around other people. Some people just open up more than others. If he just does it with you, it means he is comfortable around you enough to open up. It means he finds you easy to talk to. It's a good sign, but it doesn't necessarily mean he likes you as more than a friend. But then again it might.

That's not what you specifically asked though. :) You asked what it means with us.

Now, it wouldn't really mean a thing. With only a few exceptions I'll say pretty much anything to anyone. But when I was younger and very shy it would have been very rare for me to open up like that. If I did it that would mean I was very comfortable with her and liked her, probably liked her a lot.

Everyone is different. That's why you can't read much into it.

It just means he's able to open up to you. It doesn't necessarily mean anything beyond that. Some guys just find someone they trust, and they open up. Some guys don't open up at all. Then there's the rare breed of guy who just can't shut up, and talks to anybody in earshot, about his whole life story.

So no offence, you might be a completely lovely girl, but there are a bunch of reasons why him sharing might mean nothing.

I had a boyfriend like that at first I liked it but then I realized he was just ranting and looking for validation, etc. sometimes less words mean more, I like quiet guys, they've got nothing to prove, it is frustrating at times, because then I feel like I have to do all the talking.. so there's a balance..
