Hi All,

When a girl says 'lets definitely catch up at some stage', what does that mean?

Girl in question is a work crush from a job I recently left. She never showed for my leaving drinks and rather than use the email address I left behind for contact with colleagues she decided to text me the following night with some lame excuse for not showing and an apology.

After I responded that I was gonna miss her she replied with the above. What does it sound like to you, is it more of a friends thing or what?

What I mean is, why contact me at all if your never gonna see me again and why use my phone number to contact rather than an email saying sorry etc...

Am thinking she means more than just friends but I don't want to go into this with the wrong expectations and wind up looking like a fool

Thanks for the answers guys and gals, hmmm, bit of split on opinions, its probably friends and we'll see how I'm feeling sorta thing if and when we do arrange something. Balls in her court, she opts not to contact me well then I guess its her loss, wish me luck :-)

Update on this, a friend told me she was asking about me when they were out during the week for some social event, saying we should go out with him, be fun etc, what u's make of that?

Why oh why are guys so bad at picking up hints?

She likes you - and is trying to ask you out but appearing very casual and non-chalent...

she wants to see you, and she texted you because its more personal than an email!

shes also giving you an opportunity to use her number and text her.

if she wants to go for drinks with you some evening alone, then its a good sign.

if however she suggests something a lot less intimate then take a wait and see approach.

Hmmm, well I got back to her and said a specific day I was free and we should do something, was about 5 or 6 days ahead of the date I texted. She came back to me two days later saying she was busy all week.

I kinda made it out like I wanted a one on one and she flaked so I don't really get it. Replied to her saying that next time she was out with our old work guys, let me know and I'll try come say hi, that way there is not the 'this is a date' pressure. For a guy busy = not interested

Erm...sorry but she's being very vague about when to catch up and she kind of ignored you saying you'd miss her. She probably felt bad for not going to drinks and thought you'd get a text sooner. I'm really sorry but I don't think she is interested.

yeah you could be right, kinda pissed she would do that though, I mean just let it die if your not interested that way rather than texting me late at night, she's a bit odd I think

I don't know what that means. Confusing! I would prob only ask about a guy if I liked him. Guess you'll just have to wait and see. But I still think she's weird.

Yeah, defo v socially awkward person were talking about here, she's literally a grown up nerd so maybe that helps explain some of the contradictions, being overly shy might be a cause. Yep am stumped also miss, that said though when I did work there I would always catch her staring and sometimes she'd keep eye contact with me until she'd finished passing. She is more senior than me in the company so maybe a reason also, Dunno, I'm at a loss to expain her myself, hence being here ...

You're thinking is wrong...she means just friends. If she wanted more than a friendship, I promise she WOULD NOT HAVE MISSED YOUR FAREWELL PARTY/ DRINKS. The lame excuse for not making it is even more evidence that you can rest assured that this chick does not what more than a friendship.

Was this a guy or girl friend? Still sounds like a friendship thing to me. She's wanting to meet up with you in a group/ friend environment. Not one on one. Dude, when figuring out women, you MUST bottom line their actions. Pay little attention to words, or hear say. Bottom line. She missed your farewell party. Bottom line, she text you instead of calling to apologize. Don't ignore the little clues. They tend to add up to big red flags.

Was a guy friend, he seemed pretty excited about it to take the time to text me on it, meh don't know I kinda agree with you on the group setting but the way I view this is different due to body language and general interactions in person that I could spend all day listing off, your a guy so you get what I mean there. Honestly your right on the what women say and their actions, if she's trying to touch me every time we meet there's more than just friends going on there cause we don't even talk normally
