Ditch a 'not so important meet' Gracefully

Whether it's a friend or a significant other, sometimes you just feel like spending some time just with yourself.

- if this is true for you, then read on

Ditch a 'not so important meet' Gracefully

  • Be HONEST

: when you're about to flake out on someone the best thing you can do is to be honest. If you got your period and don't feel like going out, you don't have to be extremely specific, just say you're not feeling very well.

  • Apologize

: if you're about to ditch someone (for whatever reason) the least you can do is apologize. It's only fair - hopefully they won't resent you for not feeling like going out on that particular night/day.

  • Don't make untrue excuses - they're always obvious

: do not lie. Almost everyone can tell a lie from the truth - especially if that person knows you well.

  • Make a plan to reschedule (if you honestly want to reschedule)

: if it's just not a good moment, but you still feel like doing it sometime in the future, just reschedule. Let the message be clear - you can't make it now, but you'll be more than happy to make it at a more convenient time.

  • Again - be HONEST - if you don't want to reschedule just say so (but politely)

: if it's a blind date, or a coffee with a friend who you secretly don't like all that much, just be honest and make it clear you won't want to meet them in the future. Ever. Be polite, honest and don't leave things open for interpretation! This will only make you look like a bad person - for not making it clear they don't have a shot with you/at being your friend.
