So I need to get my feelings out. I feel like I've been respectful enough.

Some people, here and in the world, can be very ignorant about my job and, basically the military in general. You have the right to say what you want but it also is very rude and impolite. We are protecting your rights, especially the right for free speech.

The military is not an institution, for the matter. I do not make any decisions on what we do. It's my job to do what I'm told.

Secondly, I never ever want to hear someone say that it's alright to kill U.S soldiers (whether it be Marines, Navy, Army, Airforce, or Coast Guard). To say that is extremely rude, disrespectful and immature. When you say those types of things, you're disrespecting about 3 million people that are protecting your ass. Go up to a couple of soldiers and tell them that and I guarantee you it will not go well. We form relationships that people outside the military cannot understand.

Lastly, to sum it all up, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it and don't act like a bitch and be rude about me, my brothers, and the rest of the branches. Also, before you go and tell me I called you a bitch, I didn't. I said "acting like".

The fact is, the US military protects its citizens merely by existing, of course they do more than that, but just the fact that we have such a powerful military makes anyone who plans anything against the Us at least think twice. `

Yes soldiers follow orders, geez, how efficient would our military be if they just did whatever the hell they wanted? Thats a completely ridiculous argument to just say theyre mindless zombies for that. You follow orders at work too most likely.

We SHOULD be in Ukraine, we gave our word that we would be if anything went down and something went down. Why aren't we? Because of Politics and the dangerous "Bush Lied" myth. Any democrat president from now on will be scared to go to war or risk their parties votes. Bush didn't lie about WMDs in Iraq, just about every international intelligence agency on the planet believed they were there, Bill Clinton did as well when he was at the helm and backed Bush when he gave the go ahead. Because of this stupid backlash, America will not take action when its necessary anymore, and the whole world sees us as weak. We draw imaginary lines in the sand, ruthless rulers cross them so we move the line further back.

People think that the US just goes into a country because they want to. No, they have that country's permission, that's why they're there.
I respect the military, any military force from any country who's purpose is to preserve our freedom.
I'm not American, I'm from Spain and in 2004 we had the worst terrorist attack in March 11 when ten bombs exploded on four trains right when everyone was going to work. 191 people died and thousands of injuries. It hit us hard, really hard, and as a 9 y/o kid that I was, I was pretty scared wondering if I was gonna be the next one. Also, we've been dealing with ETA a Spanish terrorist group that has killed hundreds of Spanish people.
People that haven't dealt with terrorist attacks don't understand what it is to fear for your life and your freedom, that's why I support the war on terrorism.

Also, many people criticize the US for going into Middle East, while forgetting that the US was supported by dozens of other countries like Canada, Spain, France, England, Australia... but they only blame the US.

You know, it wasn't long ago that I may have said something like "you guys are protecting a corrupt regime" and all that. I do think we have some problems here in the US with the super-rich basically buying the government and beating up on the middle class, working class, and the poor.

However, I have come to grow up and I like being able to go for bike rides or walks and not worry about getting shot or blown up by terrorists. I like being able to travel around on vacation and not worry that there are bad guys everywhere, or that someone is going to enforce their religion on me which I am not even part of, just because I wore a band t shirt or because I drank a beer or something like that. I'm not trying to pick on them or provoke them for no reason, it's not like some people who intentionally do things to pick on others or to try and assert dominance.

I am also glad that there are people who are willing to join the military and are good at what they do so that we keep the bad guys away from home, and so that people like myself who have no experience with weapons or combat, who would probably make for bad fighters, don't have to get drafted. I am free to be here and live my life and follow my interests, because people are willing to protect it. I can appreciate that.

And, not that I am eager to go to war or anything, but I have an old buddy who became a fighter pilot and I have to say, that sounds pretty adventurous. I'll bet he's got some great stories.

Anyway, keep doing what you do and stay safe.

If we weren't protecting you, many terrorist groups (Al-Qaeda, ISIS, etc) would be invading the US repeatedly. We gave those terrorist groups a big blow when Bin Laden was killed. It may not seem like we're doing much, but we are. The US Military recently just killed three top ISIS leaders. So we are doing a lot.

If you want to talk about protection, then you must talk about Ukraine. The US has signed agreements to provide military protection to Ukraine, but where were they to be found when Crimea got invaded?

You can expect respect for your courage and bravery as individuals, and even patriotism. But you can't expect the world to love or even respect the US Military when all it's been doing for the last few decades is lose wars and create new problems for the rest of the world.

I never said I expect the world to love me. For your information, Obama is the one who tells us what to do. Have you seen how bad of a President he is? We soldiers are not allowed to do anything until Obama tells us to. He has warned the world, especially Russia, VERBALLY countless times that he will not tolerate any invasions. What does Putin do? He invades Crimea. We can't do anything until Obama tells us to, which will never happen. I don't control what goes on in our military and our government.

I don't have a problem with soldiers regardless of whose uniform they wear. I *do* have a problem with people who disrespect the uniform, who commit war crimes or generally make asses of themselves, and I'd think someone like you would feel the exact same way.

Some of my cousins are in the Army. I idolize these guys, they're some of the best men I know. They signed up because of 9/11, wanted to bring justice to those who attacked us, make the world a safer place. They were sent to Iraq by our politicians. They did their jobs, kept their people alive as best they could and came home disillusioned but unharmed. A friend of theirs, on the other hand, came home joking about how he shot some poor farmer's livestock out of nothing but his own boredom.

I'm kind of divided on this whole thing:
1) On the one hand, If I were from the US, I would say something along the lines of "If you really wanted to protect my rights, then you would have joined the National Guard and actually defend the country while INSIDE the country, and not go abroad to "defend" your country on the other side of the globe.
2) But on the other hand, I'm from Eastern Europe and we have Russia right next to us and if anything happens then either we are immediately abandoned by NATO (because the West probably won't start a war with Russia over the Ukraine or the Baltics), OR the US sends in the marines/whatever and saves our asses. So I don't know whether I should be thankful to the marines because they are are just as likely of abandoning me as they are saving me - because they follow their politicians, and not their promises.

The US joined both wars at the last moment. The first they joined when the Germans were beginning to lose and the outcome was already visible. They simply shortened the War. The second war? That they had the full intention of avoiding as well. In fact, have you ever heard of the War plan red or whatever it was called? The plan to wipe out the British Empire? They intended to use it against Canada and the UK if the latter was weakened enough in Europe . But it happened so that the US was forced into the war.

So take your "US saved the day" bullshit someplace else. I'm not saying they didn't contribute - in fact massively - but they weren't the sole reason the war was one.

@ThisDudeHere Just so you know the National Guard are actually the first ones deployed at any given time across the globe while the standard army is usually stationed in our own country. From there the regular army and the guard alternate and switch out whenever one needs to take a break and come back home.

Lol and I'm sorry but that digital camo lol hopefully they will issue you some multicam if you're still using that digital camo. The multicam is way better overall, for forested areas I still favor the classic woodland camo I've got a full set of that from when my father was first in the military 30 some years ago, good stuff.

I respect all western militaries greatly, but the way you're going about this is a waste of energy. No matter what you say, no matter what you do, there will always be ignorant people willing to argue about what they don't understand. The same can be said of pretty much anything.

Stop giving a fuck about what anyone else thinks, the only respect and validation you should need is your own. Civilians have died in every single war that's occurred on this planet. We are mainly killing the terrorists. For your information, the guys we are killing aren't ordinary people you see walking around the streets. The main ones we are killing are ISIS members, Al-Qaeda members, and the Taliban. I'm hoping you know how dangerous these terrorists groups are. We don't target and shoot innocent civilians. It happens, unfortunately. Usually it happens because civilians want to protect the terrorists and they accidentally get in the cross fire. Other times, they're used as body shields a second before we shoot. However, every war in the world always has civilians killed. War will always kill innocent people. You can't just not these days, especially since many modern day terrorists dress in civilian clothing.

Theyre not just a threat to us but the entire world (which includes us) Nazi Germany wasn't a direct threat to us, but if they werent stopped, they would have very much been so. ISIS is not a bunch of farmers with guns, they have quite a bit of money actually, they literally have hundreds of millions of dollars. Never met a farmer with that income.
