I've entertained this idea on one too many comment sections and read one too many questions on GAG now to hold my silence any longer. Plus, I think that this is a good one to raise on International Woman's Day of all occasions.
What is it with the amount of men on here that believe women live lives where we are given loads of stuff for free, are violent bitches that enjoy hitting men, and have no accountability and consequences for our actions? Because absolutely none of this resembles the life that I and my friends have led. I ask because I genuinely want to know. Am I the anomaly that I don't do these things? Do I live in the wrong social circles to see this behavior? I certainly don't think I am.
Lets go through the list here.
1) Free stuff.
Let me make one thing crystal clear: Everything that I have; from my house, to my car, to my qualifications, to my job, to my friends, to my boyfriend - I have EARNED through hard work and effort. I have never been given anything for free, and if someone actually did come along and give me a hand out solely because I have a vagina, I would give it back. Its patronizing.
And please, don't bring up a woman flashing her boobs in a bar to get free drinks or something similar, because if that is what is bothering you so, then frankly you need to work on your self-control. In those instances, women only have the power that you freely give us. It's not my fault that you are using the brain in your trousers over the one in your head.
Perhaps you believe paid maternity leave to be an example of me getting something for free? That's biology, not sexism. Childbirth and pregnancy frequently kicks the mother's ass, there is no other way to put it. Even in the first world, there are still women and newborn babies that die every year during the process. Having a period of time to recuperate and nurse the child whilst not being afraid you will lose your house isn't too much to ask. Something tells me that if men got pregnant instead of women then you too would be asking for the exact same ''outrageous'' things.
2) Female on male violence and no accountability, no consequences.
Allow me to give a short run down of every single time in my life I have witnessed a woman hit a man and what happened immediately afterwards. Look at how this also links very neatly to the ''no accountability, no consequences'' accusation.
-- Woman hits man. It does absolutely nothing because he is twice her size. She is ousted from her social circle for being a violent bitch, or knocked on her ass because the guy is twice her size.
-- Woman hits man. It injures him. She is ousted from her social circle for being a violent bitch, or knocked on her ass because the guy is twice her size.
-- Woman hits man in the balls lightly for fun. Everyone - including him - has a good laugh because they all recognize it as a joke.

Where are these psychopaths who are going around beating up men to a pulp for no reason and getting away with it Scott free? They don't live down my street. They didn't go to my school or go to anywhere I've worked. And in fact, a quick look at the official government figures reveals the exact opposite. A man is four times as likely than a woman to be the victim of a violent crime - at the hands of another MAN. We're not the one's beating you up; get your own gender in order before you criticize mine.
And yes, before anyone says it, there is the ''boys can't hit girls'' rule, which FYI, exists because the average man is twice the size of the average woman. If I hit you in the face, it is not going to hurt as much as if you hit me in the face. Again that's biology, not sexism.
I do agree that there definitely are women who abuse this, as seen in the ''hit in the balls for fun'' example above (we all know of at least one girl that has), but far from being as prevalent an occurrence as the GAG guys like to make out it is, I've only seen this happen a couple of times at best. Go and look at the comment sections of questions from guys asking why girls think its funny to hit a guy and you'll see a stream of girls absolutely condemning any woman that does this.
Just because there are a few women out there that beat men and use the ''boys can't hit girls'' rule as cover is not indicative of how the majority of women act, any more than just because there are some men out there that rape and beat their wives is not indicative of how the majority of men act. Assholes are going to be assholes no matter what they have swinging in-between their legs.
Maybe I'm missing something here, this is just a cross-section of the questions and polls that I have seen so there is a good chance of that. But I do genuinely want to know the answer to this, because I personally think that a lot of this is nothing more than a classic case of ''the grass is always greener on the other side'' syndrome.
I get it. You look at certain things that women can get away with just because they are women and you feel jealousy about it. Maybe you have been on the receiving end of a couple of very nasty girlfriends who knew exactly how to play the system. But the thing is, there are many things that you too can get away with that we can't, and actually have often been able to do so for several thousand years longer than we have.
Life is not fair. We can try and make it as fair as we can, but as long as women are the one's who give birth and remain physically weaker on average than men, life will never be perfectly equal for either of us because life will always have to reflect these differences and make reasonable allowances for them.
I don't expect a civil comment section on a subject as controversial as this, but a few honest and well thought-out answers from both sides would be appreciated.
