Because a lot of people are snobs. They look down on anyone who doesn't meet their standards. Personally I look down on the snobs. I consider them far lower than a janitor. Gimme a janitor over a snob any day. Janitors are working for a living. It's an honest and necessary occupation. That's good enough for me.

People like to look down on people to elevate themselves, it is the weak person's way to feel good about oneself. People who are secure and confident don't need to look down on people or knock people down. Only cowards can't compete on level terms.
Cause it's manual work, doesn't require any skill or education and it's generally not well paid. I don't look down on them, but I prefer to associate with people of similar ambition and goals in life.
I didn't know people did that... :/
I don't know anyone who looks Down on janitors... I mostly always see people always making friends with them... maybe it's where you're from.
hmm... dunno. They're the ones that keep everything clean, making your lives easier. We should thank them occasionally for always keeping everything in order^^

Women might view them as "lazy", unambitious etc?
My view on any type of job like that is at least that person is working, no matter the job and someone has to do it. I don't treat them with any less respect, or try not to anyway unless they're rude to me or something. But that wouldn't matter who it was.i don't know. i'm friends with the janitor who cleans the rooms in the mornings. i am so grateful to janitorial staff for the work that they do. without them... I don't know how any of us would manage.
It's how you grow up I guess, I was taught to respect people of all professions. The custodians at my first school would sometimes watch our classes because the district couldn't afford substitute teachers in every school so we got to know the custodians by name and they were all loved.
It's people whose got a evil mind that school janitors got be watched
that is why innocent people end up getting in trouble cause of peoples
evil mind and kids get scared go home make up some bogus story to
their parents than the school looks into it and the janitor is relieved of
his duties to they know what is going on and when the investigation is
over the janitor he is innocent but can't return to his job so he goes
else where to look for work or new job.unfortunately money and status are important
A conventionally attractive mate
Mainstream social standards
Getting married
Having kids
Buying a house
Maybe a dog
In sum your social worth is measured by your pocket bookim sure people my age have huge respect for janitors coz we know this guy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va_Rmpd3PZThere are always people who want to feel superior to others.
Because their job is to clean. It's very unfortunate, though. Next time you see a janitor, say thanks and smile at him!
Because they have no clue how hard that job actually is and are ignorant and have been taken care of their whole lives and never had a hard day of work.
I don't know why but whoever thinks there better then someone else is wrong. I think we should all be looked at as equal but unfortunately some people think differently.
because those people are ignorant and have been taken care of their whole lives and never had a hard day of work.
I wonder how they look down on that public employee janitor in SFO who made $270,000 in 2015 by gaming the system.
because the janitor was on the first floor and the person was on the second floor balcony?
I don't look down on them at all. In fact, I look down on the people that look down on them.
They dont realize the value i guess... my dad is one of those people...
Because they're bad people who haven't learned the concept of respect.
I don't look down on janitors but I assume they may be uneducated or limited work experience.
Some people like to have someone to look down on, whoever that might be. I don't know why someone would choose a janitor.
I don't, it's a living right? It's just not preferable ig.
It gives them some type of satisfaction to know that they are asserting their "superiority" over someone.
