These are my choices:
-Prather/Roberts/Brack
-San Jac
-Duren
-Jester
Please give me a detailed experience/opinion on these dorms. By the way, I heard that Prather, Bracks and Roberts do not have elevators. Is that true?
Been at Kinsolving, then?
I'm going to personally recommend that you do not go to Jester if you're at all concerned with your studies. Jester tends to be loud, uncomfortable, and unpleasant, at least from my experience.
PRB was okay for me, but I was in supplemental housing at the time, so my room wasn't as good as the others. It is true that it does not have an elevator, though.
San Jac and Duren are both pretty sweet, but they're more expensive. If you don't mind the extra cost, go for one of those. If you liked going to Kinsolving cafeteria for food, go Duren. J2 cafeteria isn't NEARLY as good as Kinsolving, though JCL allows you to get food at odd hours, which is nice.
As I recall, they opened up two of the Whitis buildings for regular use. I was in Whitis LLB first semester, and that was a great dorm. If you can get Whitis as an option, I'd recommend doing that, particularly if you like Kinsolving cafeteria.
Well, my main choise is PRB. I heard it's quiet but sociable since it's filled with a upperclassmen. I've been to San Jac and Duren, and yes, they are AMAZING. The cost isn't. So that isn't really a big thing. Haven't been to Kingsolving but heard it was great...especially the food.
Since Whitis is the FIG dorm, I found it to be actually significantly more sociable than PRB. PRB didn't have nearly as many social events, though we got along okay. Whitis also had much nicer rooms.
And yes, Kinsolving cafeteria food is substantially better than anything at Jester. I have yet to meet anyone that says otherwise. Having the gym near PRB is nice, though.
I graduated from UT Austin and didn't live on campus but lived downtown.
Personally, I'd go for the newer dorms like San Jacinto or Duren but they tend to be more expensive. Found this link: link .
I agree with her 100 percent. Good luck
OMG, thank you. That video helped a lot. I want to live in on campus my first two years and then off later for the rest. I am also trying not to use a lot of money so Duren and San Jac are not in my league, unfortunately.
