My boyfriend broke up with me after three years and posted on his Facebook status a lyric from a song, "To my beloved, think we need some time away, They say if you love it, you should let it out its cage

And f*** it, if it comes back you know it's there to stay". What is the purpose of doing this when your the one who walked away from the relationship and said this is it, its over for good? He knows I can see this on his profile? "If it comes back?", he doesn't want me back?

Sounds like he wants you to chase him. It's lame, and I'll be the first person to admit I've done it. Sometimes girls can be so confusing I just pull away and refuse to respond to get them to chase because sometimes its the only way to tell if she cares. But then I realised its dumb and shouldnt be like that and walked away properly.

Dont get caught up in analysing everything he does or says, it will drive you crazy.

hahaha that's an old trick for immature couples. No offense. They always say if you love it, let it free. If it comes back its ment to be. Its old yet classic. Do what your heart feels, in my opinion you should stand on your own and message him and tell him I need someone to be more forward. Not look for sympathy because you were the one that wanted this. hope this helps

Mmm, in putting pieces together, it sounds like he wants you to chase and beg after him to prove you love him, however, this method sounds extremely screwed up if that is true.
