Do the lyrics ever ruin a song for you?

You hear what sounds like a cool song on the radio or on streaming; it's got awesome music and a great melody. Then you see the lyrics and think "What? This is dumb!"

Whether it's content you find objectionable, they're complete nonsense, or they sound like the singer opened their seventh grade diary and wrote the song around the entry for that day, have the lyrics of a song ever ruined the song for you?

Hardly. I first listen to a song for the beat. Then for the voice of whoever is rapping or singing. I can listen to a song about 10 times (different days) before I’ll finally pay attention to the lyrics. Then im like omg what was i listening too. Most of the time i’m singing the song wrong anyways 😂

When the singer hums something as if they never could figure out a line to add there. My mind wants to think of something. Using words I dislike too. I have issues with “got”. I’m picky in my own mind. Try to keep it to myself.

Sort of. I used to dig Snoop Dogg quite a lot, but when i listen to him now i think he’s just a lazy lyricist. He cusses and makes up words just to add syllables. I can barely stand his stuff now.

Yup. When it has swear words or sexual stuff. I like songs that are more polished or innocent.

Yeah one of the early songs by the chain smokers sounded good but the lyrics were toxic and harmful.
